I'm a 71-72 guy, and I don't mean to generalize, but the 3's and 4's looks so close to me, so I don't understand why some say they only like 73's? Why the preference?

It doesn't matter to me personally. Really, the only differences I didn't like on the '74 automatics was the round shifter nob that came on the console cars.

The look and style from the rear of the door to the back bumper, I really prefer the 73 or 74. I guess a 74 being my first and only charger is why I like the 73-74.

The only thing I can think of would be SLIGHTLY less emmissions gear from the factory but most people take the stuff off anyways. I have a '73 but have no preference either way really. IMHO , the '74 might be slightly more valuable as they were produced in a much lower numbers that the '73 models (most production of any year.)

74 are interlocked... humped trunk floor ( so "less room" on trunk ), diff lower rear panel, no repro of them. Thats the only real diff stuff what really mean something between 73 and 74. another stuff is complete double retractor setup in the middle could it be something that disturb ? , dunno. Maybe 73 looks cleaner with shoulder belt clipped on roof, but I'm in hand with safety AND comfort together with performance so I preffer 74. Diff 3 spokes wheel too maybe ?, but thats easy to change Then the larger bumper guards on rear, but you can change that too

I perfer the 74 over the the 73 because that was what was availabe when I was looking. I honestly didn't know there was a difference between the 2 other than the bumper guards that Nacho is talkin about.

73 was the last year of the 340. I like 71's but don't like 72's. I prefer a 73 over a 74. Can't tell you why but i just do. I feel the 72 charger was a cheap version of the 71. That was the year everything was the same from car to car. Things like sidemarker lights, black seatbelts instead of colored ones, and only 1 style of bulge hood.

Sheer blasphemy, blasphemy, blasphemy!!.... And on Easter Sunday, too.... and on a 73/74 topic thread, too.... and from a closet HO/GM aficionado, too... If that don't just beat all.... #Rotz# I'm calling Tom to have your Man Card revoked....he hasn't done that in a while!! ;D

I don't care for the corporate side markers. It's not that they cheapen the car - it's that they don't identify or represent the car anymore.
I like 73 & 74 equally!
