Hoping not to deal with tortion bar removal at any time in the near future but this thread is informative. Yeah.....the moral of the story is to get the right tools for the job. Whether it be making them, borrowing them, or buying them. Myself, I have no hesitation buying tools that make my life easier. Especially ones that I know will use over and over. In fact, I once shipped my bushing removal/installation tool, torsion bar tool, and ball joint socket to a good friend in Louisiana. He used them and sent them back. Easy fit in a USPS medium flat rate box.

Make sure you pack both sides of the torsion housing w/grease before putting the boot on. This will keep the water out. Mine came right out cause there was still grease left after 40 years.
