I noticed after starting cold engine I had hood up and could here a rattling kind of sound coming from where engine and trannie bolt together. It sounded like something turning in bell housing but hard to tell exactly what it was. I was told a new tork converter was installed when engine was rebuilt in 2012 so I'm hoping nothing too bad is going on. Anybody know what it could be, get one thing fixed and another pops up.

Might want to check the flex plate to torque converter bolts.

Many many years ago my first car was a piece o crap 74 360 charger....long story short I had changed the tranny out with a used one in dead of winter in driveway....so attention to detail was lacking.... The only time I EVER drove over the limit (DUI) was a week later after bar closed...driving home car starting making a slight tap tap tap tap sound...it got louder and louder...I was terified i would get pulled over for just the noise....Got home and it was so loud now....parked car and went to bed... Next morning got up, pulled car over a curb so i could get under it...took off the inspection tranny cover and ALL bolts had backed out from torque convertor ....was lucky I made it home Tightened them all up using locktight and was good to go ...lesson learned

Ya I think that's about right unless maybe its the starter not disengaging all the way. I haven't had time to look but I would bet on flex plate. By the way Steve that's a cool skull icon you got there. Thx guys

You sure it's the tranny and not the heat riser on the manifold. That makes a rattling sound from time to time.

I don't know but I pulled dust cover off and found flywheel and flex plate to be ok thankfully. I guess I won't worry too much at this point.
