I don't know...... I happened to be working for Kroger when I got divorced almost 20 years ago. When I got divorced, my health insurance no longer covered my kids, because I did not have "physical custody" of them. That was pretty lame. When I went to work at Pep Boys, that was a non issue....and they were covered. In this case, it's not a huge deal, just a minor inconvenience and an additional expense. I will go ahead and provide myself with health insurance thru my business. I posted this as a warning for what may be come a more common business practice. Not so much as a "woe is me" When one business does something unpopular like this, others will more than likely follow.

I cringe to think what will happen to our coverage / costs when the "employer mandate" hits. With costs projected to increase 50%, my employer will not be eating all of that, if any of it.

That sucks.....As I work for GE I am lucky that when the whole Benefit restructure came up this past Jan we made out Very well......
I received 1 additional week of vacation....I now have 6 paid weeks I also received 1 extra floater day...now have 3 per year Got to choose my Benefit package....basic, standard or premium....since the standard package covered allot for me an my daughter I chose that... It also gave me unused flex credits...that I could have applied to upgrading benefits...I chose it was good enough, so they gave me the flex credits valued at $1000 to use on my RRSP ...retirement savings plan
And with all of that allot of people STILL complained.....I think it was fantastic.....my cost because of I chose to pay my extended life coverage is $30 a pay .... I am very happy Along with the Ontario Health Insurance plan OHIP we are covered very well in Canada at very little cost to us ...of course there are plenty of issues with the system it sure beats the alternative
