Has anyone had experience with 440 Source? Looking at stealth heads and a stroker kit. Any opinions welcome.

No personal experience but big block guys love em'. Seems like everybodies kits when checked by their local machine shops has issues but those guys have to find something to charge for. Price wise I think 440 source has some of the best prices because they make a lot of their stuff. Small block guys seem to favor MLR. Hughes engines is also a favorite.

Google for 440 source water pump housing, and read some of the threads about overheating. Price wise I think 440 source has some of the best prices because they make a lot of their stuff. I thought 440 source stuff had the best prices because it was all made in china.

Heard they get them from China as well. Since its a street engine not sure its necessary to spend Indy, Eddy, Mopar prices. Just want more power than stock. Also, just saw muscle motors for stroker kit for 1999.

Does anyone have thoughts on just turning down the main journals of a forged 440 crank and using 440 rods?

That's the way they used to do them. It's just nobody wants to kill a 440 to build a stroker. That stirs up lots of arguments on other sites. Piston ramp speed, side loading, reliability, yada, yada. Probably by the time you rework and buy a forged 440 crank, it would probably be more $. Arguments are unless you are sleeping with the engine builder you have to spend a lot of money to get the power out of a stroker than a nice rebuilt 440 and new heads fit on both of them. Let your wallet be your guide. It's just expensive anyway you go. I would rather spend the money on less power and build it strong and to last but I don't have the money or desire to go fast. And don't buy 440 source water pump housing or buy it and bore it like some do. China parts, cast in Mexico, designed in Israel, machined in Canada and assembled in the US. Sounds like military grade hardware!
