I started swapping a 440 into my 73 about 3 years ago. Then I bought a 74 318 Valiant, sold it and bought an 86 944, went to college, got lazy over breaks, graduated. So now that I've had time I finished the swap, break it in, and drive it. It still doesnt have a hood because the 440 with a performer rpm intake. I'm looking for a 1/2" drop base air cleaner bottom if anybody knows of one. Thats a 66 Hemi Coronet 440 Videos First start Break-in One of the first couple drives

Hey Dan. Long time, no see. Glad to see that you have the Charger up and running! How's that 440 treating you?

I have maybe 10 miles on the engine. So far its running fine and making at least as much power as the 400. I've only had it up to maybe 3500rpm by ear. It still has the 8-1/4" rearend and 2.45 rear gears so I dont want to really beat on it.

I wish the 3rd gen chargers had more hood options , a glass bulge hood with 440 magnum emblems would look good!!

Im getting another drop base air cleaner. Im hoping it clears the hood. I put the hood on and my current air filter needs about 1/2" more clearance.

I'm getting another drop base air cleaner. I'm hoping it clears the hood. I put the hood on and my current air filter needs about 1/2" more clearance. I ended up going with a shorter K&N Filter and a filter lid using a socket button head screw (button head allen screw) to get just enough clearance on mine.

I ended up with the smallest drop base k&n makes and a 3" paper element. It just barely clears the hood. The car is now traction limited, 1st gear is useless below 35mph, and thats with 2.45 gears. So last week I picked up a C-body 9.25" with sure-grip to rebuild. I am hoping to machine the cones, replace all the bearings, put 3.23 gears in, and convert to Jeep Liberty rear discs. There is a small chip missing on the coast side of every tooth That powder is what was once the brake hardware.

I also forgot to include that I rebuilt the carb last week and driveability is greatly improved. There were some circuits that still had casting flash in them that I had to break away. It is a Holley 670 street avenger.
