When I'm driving on interstate I have a loud roaring sound in rear end that starts at 60 and stops at 70, its quiet before and after these speeds. It's so loud you haft to almost yell if you want to talk. If I let off gas it will quieten some and it does seem to get worse under heavy load like going up a hill but its mainly around those speeds. It is a high speed rear end, I think 2.94. Anyone know what the problem is?

Axle bearing, pinion bearing, driveshaft, tire pick one and start there. Seen ring and pinions do it too. First guess would be pinion bearing.

A friend told me today it might be the exhaust resonating at certain pressure for lack of better terms. His thought was a bearing would make noise all the time or at least get worse as speed increased. What do y'all think? If it is the rear end then maybe this is a good time to look at getting a 3.55 gear ratio installed, I've been thinking that would be a good fit for my car.

Well if it is the exhaust, a 3:55 will help you to hear it a lot more and probably louder. Put the friend in the back seat and take him for a ride and let him listen. It should be pretty easy to tell exhaust from bearing noise.

Well I do need to put him in back cause its hard to tell from drivers seat what's going on. I noticed another sound I haft to figure out now. Something is rattling ever now and then and I think it might be the right exhaust pipe cause it almost touches the torsion bar and it probably doesn't take a lot for them to touch. It's always something to fix with these old cars but every time I look at that charger I'm reminded its worth it. When I get it figured out let you know, hopefully I wont be long, I appreciate your input and thanks !

Tell him it's easier to hear in the trunk! It is always something with these old cars or any car! There used to be a tshirt that said, "If it uses GAS or has T#T# it's going to cause you trouble".

As it turns out it is the exhaust. After i found out the problem I stopped at a muffler shop and ask the guy there what could be done to fix it. He said I have a 40 series master flow exhaust and that it was a common problem and the only way to fix it was to change to a different series and or add a resonator. I'm going to leave alone for now, I'm just glad it didn't cost me anything to fix.

A lot of guys add a glasspack inline. 40s are incredibly loud. If you change consider the Walker Ultra flo. They are quieter, no drone, stainless steel and fit well.

If it wasn't for the cut outs in the rear valance for the exhaust I would really like to have side pipes. I'm not sure which way ill go but it will probably be a while; I have to prioritize my funds. Thx for the imput
