Just being open on Saturdays, the museum must just be a money losing tax write off. Basically just a cool place for him to store his cars at reduced cost. That is not a criticism...just observation.
I guess if I am ever going to make the trip, I need to do it soon. But I probably won't. As strange as it might seem, I am not really into drooling over trailer queens, regardless of the rarity. Even when I go to Carlisle, I spend very little time looking at the cars.
I think I simply have a lot more appreciation for people who do their own work, as opposed to those who are fortunate enough to just "write a check".

Me too, but from the quote above, it sounds like he just selling these to acquire more cars. We'll have to see if they are all 3rd gens., or if he's going to diversify his collection some more.

If I were fortunate enough to purchase one of Mr Wellborn's Chargers, I'd definitely have to drive it. They are awesome looking but I couldn't just watch them sit and collect dust.

HEMMINGS“The goal here is really to make room to continue rotating the museum inventory,” he said. “Space is limited, so we can’t just keep adding to the current group of cars, and we want to keep the muscle car displays fresh.”

Still plenty to see, plus the museum itself. I'd sure go if I had the chance.

You certainly can't complain that Mecum isn't putting some effort into this sale. Check out this beautiful online brochure. MECUM

This morning started off great. I got to see the brochure for the Mecum auction in person. My boss got it from somebody and let me say it is quite a brochure. I have several coffee table books of musclecars and this is on par with the best of them. I'm trying to figure out how to get one to keep. We are going to see our daughter in Orlando which is near Kissemmee where they are having the auction, the 12th -15th but it doesn't look like anything starts till the 16th. Bummer. I thought the Fates had lined up for a change and I would get to see my 2 favorite things (my daughter and 71-74 Chargers) on 1 vacation. Considering I've never actually had a vacation before that was probably asking too much........ We may cruise on by just to have a looksee anyway.

I could be wrong, but when I visited the museum a few years back, I think it was 21 hemi cars.
