Maybe I'm a little over the top but I check the ebay listings for 71-72 charger's almost daily looking at cars though I have no intentions to buy. One thing I noticed repeatedly is seller's inacurately listing their car as an SE when it's clearly a hardtop/coupe. I guess if it isn't an R/T, Superbee or Rallye it must be an SE. Sure I notice this more because I'm an SE owner, but it's ridiculous. Write an accurate listing and there's nothing wrong with .a hardtop! Just say'n.

Archie, I do E-BAY and sell-buy Mopar daily. I see dodges in there for $25 grand all butchered up, and emblems in wrong places etc, FACTORY CORRECT RESTO"S.. Satellites are Road Runners/25 grand cars half done incorrect if your picking details, on and on.... My charger has 3 SE emblems and charger se on the dash! that should tell ya something... But not one place does it say BROUGHAM other than Door panels different/door red/white/blue emblem below mirror with 'Charger'. 73-74's SE'S all had quarter window louvers I'm thinking, but may be wrong knowing me...[/p] Selling on E-BAY meticulous detail to correct??? as factory as you can get he says??? beyond dozens of other items I seen missing or wrong notice anything in picture? "Hint" door emblems backwards ARROW TO THE REAR THERE MR CORRECT GUY, and motor and undercarriage would make a NOVUS CHUCKLE... BUT NICE CAR ANYWAY!

I don't understand it either. Why go through all the hassle & money for body and paint just to attach them like you really don't care. A little research goes a long way and might turn off potential buyers who like me can get a little anal about things. It's still a free country so I you can put them wherever you want.
Very nice SE you have there, even if the arrows do point in the wrong direction.

Hey Arch, The dyed-in-the-wool purists are going to absolutely HATE my car when it's done:
A 72 SE Brougham, with Build Sheet, no less, with:
A Power Bulge Hood (PBH) complete with 440 magnum callouts on the bubble covering a 400 magnum motor
A tilt column, not on the build sheet
A "correct" Gull Wing--not Go Wing--Rear Deck Spoiler, but correct for 71, not 72, which never had a rear wing option
A front air dam/spoiler
A Tuff Wheel, not on the build sheet
A Landau Black paint job, with white vinyl top, also not correct per the build sheet
A COMPLETE black interior (including carpet, dash, panels, seats),.... original was blue
A correct Rallye Dash , but with the Tach replaced by a clock, because at my age time is more important than RPM knowledge....I have instruments in my garage if I need to know that.
A set of remote-controlled electric trunk & hood lock release(s) swiped from C-Bodies, buttons in the glove box.
A set of Gabriel Hi-Jacker air shocks on the rear
A set of Cragar S/S wheels all the way around, 15" (x10 on rear, x8 on front)....originals were 14'' Rallyes
A set of 295/50 rear and 245/60 front Cooper Cobra raised white letters....originals were F78-14 Firestones
AND MY FAVORITE (shout-out to a certain JunkYard Dawg for his ingenuity and creativity): A chromed bullet-style racing remote-controlled outside mirror on the passenger side to match my driver's side....WITH REMOTE CABLE ran to the "joystick control" mounted on the dash panel in the vicinity of the radio knobs.... a remote controlled passenger mirror was never an option on any 3rd Generation B-body !!
This is not an Old Fogey's Wish/Dream/Fantasy List... I have ALL of the parts listed above, and the installation and/or replacement begins the first week of November, after years of parts accumulating and installation/restoration delays.
Hopefully all done by spring/summer so that the total package will probably be responsible for numerous cardiac arrests, seizures, and pulmonary incidents once they're spotted and analyzed at the car gatherings.....
Yay.
........but I DO promise that all emblems, arrows, badges, and call-outs WILL be properly placed and positioned...
I'm with you on that one, Archie360.

Most people assume that because the car has hideaways that it is an SE, I often contact the seller when I see a non-SE listed as an SE, kind of my side hobby, (Laughing Out Loud). One on eBay right now.

What he said!
My son likes to tell people the only thing original on my 72 SE is the sheet metal. I think the only badging on mine is the DODGE on the trunk lid. But I mag add an engine identification badge if I find one that says Slant Six. It would go nicely with the custom built 440, TTI headers and Magna Flo exhaust.

I've contacted some seller's also. Then I saw two auctions in one week claiming to be SE's. After a while it's like, Yeah Whatever!

Ok, let's stir the pot. Other than badging, what makes it a true SE? I have asked this before in other places and received different answers.
I bought mine advertised as an SE but it isn't and I didn't know the difference until I did some research after reading this thread. My first one was but this one isn't.
