Does anyone have tricks for adjusting the hood hinges on a 1973 Charger? Passenger side was up a bit and once I had the bolts loose it got way up from the weight of the hood. Having a hard time getting it back down to "zero". Seems like a two man job maybe.

Hello, yes.. I have been doing restorations for 36 years now and it isn't easy to adjust hood hinges by yourself. I can do it but it is very time consuming. If you can get a friend to help that would be the easiest. Have one of you hold up the hood fromm the front and the other tighten the bolts. Try to look where the bolts were (paint parts) and put it back to them but mabe down a little in the back. Gary

My hood hinges are shot and keep moving up near the windshield. If you have to push the hood down at the cowl after you close it, you probably need new hinges.

thanks guys. I got them back to where they were before I attempted to adjust them.having an assistant definitely helped.I also noticed that there is a slight stress buckle down the right/ passenger side hood rail which was causing the condition of three sixteenth inch elevation difference between the hood and the fender. I'll live with that for now well I make the car mechanically sound.Body work can wait till another day. Thanks again for the input.
