I did the smoke test and it worked great; all is clear no stoppages.

Well, scratch that off your list.
So what rpm does the engine run at warm and in park?

I'm not sure of RPM, I don't have a tack at this time. There are two fast idle screws on driver side, one faces straight out and the other faces down. The one facing straight out was not engaged so I let off bottom screw a bit in an attempt to make sure it wasn't running on cruse curcit. The idle screws seem to have an affect now but won't shut down engine if screwed all the way in but almost.

Ok well I backed off fast idle just a bit and increased idle a little. It seems to run ok but now that I can drive it I probably need to visit a ol mopar teck I know and let him tweak it. I'm greatful for all the imput I get here, it helps a lot.

I checked fuel pressure today and found I had 8 psi; the edelbrock manual says no more than 6 psi so I'm going to get a regulator for it and see if that helps keep it from running so rich. I moved plunger arm to top hole and that made a big difference in how it runs but it still needs a little tweak.

You probably are on to something there. I have also read that Edelbrocks are hypersensitive to fuel pressure.

Ya when I called their teck rep he stressed how important that was; the manual says 6psi is max and better at 5.5psi. After moving accelerator linkage to top hole it really did help so adding a pressure regulator and getting that under control may get me where I need to be. The way things are looking my carburetor my have been the root of my problems all along and not the electrical.
