Hi, I bought an original Tuff wheel at Carlisle over the weekend. I thought the spokes of the wheel were supposed to be polished but this one has a brushed finish and came with a 1971 padded center cap. Any thoughts?

Thanks Bob, picked one up at the show. I paid more for the adapter than I did for the wheel! Turns out I was looking at some remanufactured wheels thinking they were nos. I redid the wheel and adapter today and they came out good. I am looking forward to installing it in the 71 that I should have back from the shop tomorrow.

I got lucky when I got mine repo wheel, there was a fellow with the OE adapters at Carlisle. I got one for $55 several years ago.

I paid $100 for an orignal adapter. No steal but I didn't argue with the price. Here's a pic of my "new to me" wheel. Couldn't wait to install it as I finally got the car back from the shop today after three weeks of being worked on. I paid $90, I couldn't resist since it had the 71 center cap. The grip is not in the best condition but the wheel cleaned up nicely and the grip is firm. It will do fine till I find a better one. As you can imagine it gives a whole different feel driving the car. I haven't had one of these since I had my first car, a 74 roadrunner back in the eighties. It kinda has that weathered look like the rest of my interior.

Nice. yes, since the wheel is somewhat smaller, it gives the feeling of less power steering. But you'll get used to it because it is cool to have. Question is ... how does Jill like it?

originals are as stated, brushed. Latelly some repros are cromed available, but factory never did... I guess for safety due the reflection while driving, Thats the reason why rear hood molds and wiper blades ARE NOT shine. Molds got paint on windshield side and blades are satin. On 73 the belt molds ( top of doors and quarter "boomerang" mold ) got also paint on top surface

Haha, yes it is cool. I just have to remember I'm not driving a formula 1 car. Jill rarely drives the old cars so I will have to get back to you on that.
