Shouldn't lose much, faster you do it the less you'll lose.

raise the car enough on left side subframe could help a lot... can't recall which could help better, if rear or front

Is there a way to test the safety switch out of the transmission? And does it matter which way the 3 prong connector is plugged back on the switch?

Is there a way to bypass the nss? Or could i use a handheld remote starter jumped on the starter relay and still drive the car?

which way of the plug... doesn't really matter. Outer pins are simply the backup signal and either one can be input from fuse box or output to lamps. Middle one will be allways the NSS signal.
Bypass the switch... you can directly ground the GROUND prong of starter relay, to chassis, however remmeber you will be able to crank up the car geared. Not safe.
test the switch... well, middle pin must get continuity allways ( pressed or not ) with center ball of switch. NSS function ( safety ground ) is given by the "rostercomb" ( lever ) of tranny when a non isolated point into lever makes contact with this "ball". Outer pins must get continuity with plastic section of switch released, and break up continuity when pressing down.

What about a push button starter connected to the starter relay? If i did that, what would shut the engine off? Will it be ok to drive?
