The reproduction AMD firewall windshield edge is different since it is for an E body and you will need to patch in the windshield edge from your current firewall if you go that route.

This is what I call body shop math. New firewall costs money plus shipping plus time to modify. If you take away the clean firewall you already have and add the time to cut the old firewall apart to make a super easy pattern using the bulkhead connecter and master cylinder holes to locate and install the old column mount, this should be a whole lot more to the "cash in pocket side". Even if you keep the firewall around on the very LONG shot that anybody else would ever need it, I think it still adds up to using what you got. If you can put in the other parts you can modify that firewall. Very clean parts that Steve got for you by the way. I don't think he has any 71s right now. 74s are easier and cheaper to make into parts cars. Ouch.

The windshield edge of the cowl welds to the windshield edge of the firewall. I replaced my 73 rusted firewall with the AMD firewall for E bodies then found that the E body cowl was completely different and so I needed to use a 71-4 Charger original cowl and I cut off a long strip that went along the windshield edge of the original firewall and patched it in. Some of the brackets were different also. I would use the 74 firewall and modify the steering column, much easier.

I am not sure if they have suddenly started making an actual reproduction of the 3rd generation B body firewall or if they have just decided to say that the E body firewall is the same. I know that some of their other repro parts aren't real good fits like the Dutchman panel which is really for the Plymouth Roadrunner and not the Charger.

I'm getting older, so I don't jump into projects like I used too, but that cowl looks like a nightmare to fit to me. I can already see the gaps and spotwelds and measuring....... Unless you need part of the upper cowl, you would still be hours ahead to seam it at the seam and use that old patch and your new firewall to make something to work for the $500 with shipping that will cost you. Up to you but at my shop it would be done and in primer by the time you get the AMD piece. We like to think those new pieces of shiny metal will make it easier and sometimes they do but more often than not they leave a lot to be desired. Just my experience so your mileage may vary. Send us pics of your project as you tear into it.

all 71/74 B bodies firewalls should work BUT, is true 74 steering column mounting is different, so does the hole on firewall for it. Some differences also on cowl, but nothing major... some extra holes on 74s ( for wiper washer system ), AND I think 71 wiper pivots screws provision location.
dutchmant panel sold by AMD to Plymouths works on Dodge BUT need to modify a hump on drain channel the plymouths got and dodge not. This hump meets the trunk lid hinge brackets so IS MANDATORY to cut the hump and make it flat

David, Sorry I misunderstood your original post. You are not the only person seeking the same parts, it is quite a common rust area(s) but 71-74 2-door B-body should all be the same. not exactly... search on interchangeability parts section. Door jams are diff for eaxmple between 71/72 and 73/74. 73/74 are shorter by an inch and a half, and diff outer curve shape

The doors will fit in the opening but not the lines for the fenders and rear quarters
73-74 cars are weird compared to 71-72
