Good to know. Glad you figured it out.

On my 74 SE I changed it out to 72 hideaways. What I'm unaware of is the light treatment. Should they also have fillers and/or anything else ? Anyone have a pic of a 72 with hideaways in the open position with all the right pieces assembled?

no, the hideaways lights just show the nude beams setup with the SS trim to hold them on buckets. Only year which got a trim/bezel to hide the nude system of open hideaways like the grilles continuation was 68 the rest, and being specific to 71/72, will look like this: I guess pedestal should be "blacked out" on light color bodies ( I wish all years got the trim to hide the nude system, but I guess it was to save money on assembly plant on a "not so needed" part )

It is supposed to be blacked out on hideaways with some over spray on the radiator support. Not sure if I have some pics of mine. I'll check. It was this way with 69/70 also.

Yeah, when it's dark out, and the headlamps are on, you don't see what's back there anyhow.

I found a couple of pics of the whole engine bay that shows the over spray in original condition. I have since tried to duplicate that when I freshed up that area but failed to take a current pic. Once again though I can't post a pic because I don't have them hosted elsewhere. I can email pics if need be.

Wow, I am glad I found this! Recently took my grille off my SE and it has some cracks and scratches that I think I could repair, but have a badly warped headline bezel that I don't think I could do anything with. $100 bezels is way better than $1200 grille! Filing this one away... Here's what I pulled off mine... Thanks, Adam

I have couple of cracks on my grilles too... one of them is eaxctly like that, the other one is at the mounting tower... no money for new ones and there is no guarantee about used one being damaged on packaging/unpackaging or shipping ( BTDT ) so will live with them fixed for a while I become millionaire
