Installed a brand new alternator and voltage regulator(on my 3rd one for testing). The blue wire has 12volts going to the center pin on the regulator and to the farthest pin on the alternator. The green wire goes from the pin closest to the output wire to the left pin on the regulator. The blue wire does have 12 volts on it with the key on. But I am WAY over charging. I am not sure how it is supposed to work so I am not sure how to test it. The alternator and regulator both have there own dedicated ground wires. Thanks everyone.

blue wire is working like should be
green wire gets regulated ground sourced by the regulator which takes the ground from chassis.
both brushes must be correctly isolated from chassis.
batt must be in good conditions.
Are you saying overcharging due voltage reading or ammeter is going to the far right ?
Any wire and terminal between alt, bulhead, ammeter and starter relay up to batt must be clean and tight

Just to give an update. I tried many different regulators on a brand new alternator with no luck. So I went to an alternator shop and they built me one so it would act like a single wire, this eliminated a few wires and it works great.
