1974 Dodge Charger – the last of real Chargers"The 1974 Dodge Charger is the archetypal American muscle car; get anyone to name a handful of classic American muscle and you can bet that the Charger name will come up. Heck, some would even say that it is THE muscle car.
Remarkably, the prices don’t really reflect that; prices for the ‘74 classic are surprisingly low, perhaps the ’74 was the one that everyone wanted to avoid. Whatever the reason, if you want some classic American muscle on a budget, the ’74 Charger has to be on the list."carswithmuscle.com

Nope Solid state from the factory.
I happen to love the 73 and 74 SE Broughams!! First time I laid eye on the '74 I bought it. That is the only vehicle I ever owned which I regretted selling. Several years ago I decided to find and restore a replacement. Took me eight years to save the $$ and find a reasonably sold vehicle. Two years into the restoration now and suspect another year maybe.

There's just something about their stance/look from any angle that puts a smile on your face. I love those 2 years of the Charger... *thumb up*

No argument from me.
The 4th Gen and 5th gens certainly don't do anything for me, nor do 4 doors.

Last of the real Chargers ? Coke bottle shape, yes. Two door , No there were smaller 4 cylinder 2 door models with no styling characteristics carried over . Really big bodied car, definitely.. Power well hate to say it but though the new Chargers have 4 doors they do have styling cues from the second gen and with top engine options can make the factory stock 440s and hemi’s seem like a 318 2bbl by comparison. Where the 80’s Chargers dropped the ball the new models picked it up, ran with it and repeatedly score. I personally still like the look and sound of the older models. There is always the option of dropping a 392 485hp crate motor in a classic body. Given the new Challengers weigh in at about 4,300lbs and run 11s with that motor dropping it into a ‘73 - ‘74 Charger at 3,600lbs with gears 10s are a possibility.

I always liked the styling of those cars Bob. But the poor things must have had an identity complex after Ma Mopar was done with them. Some years badges as Chargers, other years as Monacos, others as Coronets.
Folks also tend to forget that at the same time this body was marketed as a Charger, the Cordoba-cousin in the Dodge line was sold as the Charger SE.

Yeah, the one year only Rodarunner too ... saw lots of those in the yard several years ago when we went to Desert Valley Auto.
