After being self employed in the groundskeeping/lawn care/snow removal business for a couple of decades, then the small engine repair business for about a dozen years, I closed up shop due to physical conditions. Went on a short disability when I had my knees replaced. After a few years of rehab I then went to work at a outdoor equipment dealer selling parts and service. After 3 years I decided to make a change. I am now working in the classic car industry processing orders and selling parts for National Parts Depot (NPD) in Canton, Mi. I haven't actually started yet but all the paperwork is done and I'm finishing up my last week of employment with my current employer. The downside of NPD is they don't sell Mopar! What they have in Mopar is leftover inventory from buying out a small supplier in Florida. Oh well, I'm a equal opportunity classic car guy. I like 'em all and also own a Ford though they don't sell full size Ford either! Ha!

Congratulations! That sound like a nice way to pass the working hours.
One of my friends in Livonia rebuilt a '65 Mustang, and used a lot of NPD parts I believe. Was able to walk in and get them.

I would believe it. They claim a 98% completed order average. Their warehouse is huge!

Congrats on your new retirement job! Maybe you can be the guy that gets them selling Mopar parts on a regular! It shouldn't be too hard to convince them. Just show them that folks are paying lots of $$ for Mopar. Get them to buy lots of hard to find third generation parts and give us a tip off when those parts arrive. 😁😁🔧🔧😉👍👍

Well if anyone wondered about the state of the economy and our hobby, $800,000 worth of parts were shipped out in the month of February (l sold $25,000 of that 😀) and they're expecting 1 mill to go out this month. I'm at $17,000+ already after the first week. The classic car industry is alive and well. Oh, and we're hiring both sales and warehouse, pass the word.

That's amazing. It's such a BIG industry, it's scary to see government messing with it.

The sad part, as I stated to a customer recently, is that we're rebuilding our American muscle cars with so many foreign parts. That is not a statement for or against anything, it is what it is. I just don't understand why more American companies don't want a bigger piece of that.

Yeah, it's sort of sad. But with tooling costs, low volumes compared to new car production, etc., I can understand why they do it. Don't love it, but I get it.
I haven't caved on speed parts yet...aluminum heads, valves, springs, intakes, rockers, efi, etc. Mine are still all-American. But there's a lot of import parts in that end of the market too.

Hey Jeff. I have some Jim Osborne repro sticker in my NPD cart that I need for the Cordoba. Threw a few in for the Charger too. Are you guys commission? It's not a lot of money, but I thought I'd ask.
