Hello folks! Been watching this forum from time to time during my restoration, but finally made an account and am looking for some help. I am the 1974 Dodge Charger SE. How do you install the Side Louvered (Opera?) Windows? Is there suppose to be a gasket or a rubber or something. I had the windows removed when repairing rust and painted. It seems rough just to place the windows back on there. Thinking there might be a gasket, if so where might you find such a thing?
Couldnt add picture as attachment. maybe i can figure that out though

I did not remove my quarter windows when doing my paint and body so they remain original and sealed. According to the factory service manual, butyl tape is used to seal and secure the glass.
If you have not already purchased a no kidding factory service manual I'd suggest you do. Money sooooooo well spent.

Butyl tape to seal and secure the glass, is that what is used to between the frame and body of the car as well? I don't have the factory service manual, and really hoping I am coming to completion of the project. Been looking up a problem at a time as I get to it.

Your '74 SE is a unibody car. No body to frame mating.... If you can be more specific maybe we can help you.
BTW, your journey is just beginning. Completing the restoration just puts the vehicle on the road. IMHO, having the factory service manual for a vehicle is as important as the spare tire.

To answer your question, yes there is a very thin foam that is on the SE louver outside (nothing inside). I don't believe it is so much as a seal but not to scratch against the window. The window is sealed so no water should enter. Just get some window weatherstrip at Lowes or Depot, looks to be the same.

You are so right on the Journey. The car has belonged to my father since the late 70's early 80's. I have had it my possession the last few years. As soon as i get pictures uploaded I can show the restoration project. I did add a picture to my profile to how it sits today.

Thanks, I was able to order some foam pieces that are designed to go in between the louver and the glass. I think my main concern is the frame of the window, the insert, to the body of the car.
