Yee-Haw...I finally got enough unpacked from the garage to move the Ol' Boy inside!! I guess this technically qualifies as Day One on the Resto, since I actually did something constructive: I opened both doors, lifted up on them and determined that the hinge pins and bushings are tight, that the driver's door is aligned perfectly (molding, gap, body line) and the passenger door needs adjusted about 3/16th of an inch. Whew....enough work for today, I'm plum tuckered out!! (The boxes and crates are going to be gone soon, and I'll be putting him on "Tire Skates" so he'll roll around in there easily.) Seriously, it was after dark before I got it in there, and I had some other commitments to handle, so I couldn't spend a whole lot of time on him tonight. But the journey of million miles starts with the first step, and now that Shadowfax II ( ) is in his stable, the first step has been taken!! Tomorrow I'm taking the hood off...gonna put the engine parts that are in the trunk BACK on the engine and see what I got... I suspect it was only partially dissasembled to facilitate painting the engine block.

Hey Jer, At least it is a start. I'm sure you already know about tagging your parts. You read so many posts about "Where does this go?" or "How does this go back on?". One of these days I have to scan in my photos of me stripping mine and going through the process. Looking good. Bob

Thanks everybody for the comments and encouragement...it looks even better in there in the daylight! I only stood at the kitchen door with my coffee cup, staring at it, for about an hour this morning!! After looking over it carefully today (the first time, really), I realized that I am pretty fortunate. It doesn't really have any serious major body issues other than the rear valance (replacement is being shipped as we speak), and the lower rear section of both front fenders. Those MIGHT turn out to be more trouble than I thought: I have 2 patch panels (new) that I bought last year, but the rust is into the inner panel (the one that's about 1/4 inch behind the outer), and I really don't know much about those, or even if replacements are available. BUT, first the motor....body work is a little further down the road!! My idea (which does not jive with a lot of "standard" restoration theories) is to get it running (and running well), do the interior, THEN the body work. I know everyone says to save the interior til AFTER all the body work is done (dust, paint overspray, etc.), but I'm not doing it that way. I have so little body work that needs done, and--more importantly--I want to drive it awhile before next winter, when I will bring it back into the garage for bodywork, and all undercarriage work...fuel and brake lines, tank, springs, exhaust,....EVERYTHING! ROTISSERIE TIME NEXT WINTER!!.....OH BOY!! I will, of course, do any and all things I need to do to STOP any further rust between now and then...you know, all those Preps, and Etches and all that other Body Stuff Lingo. #washwax# I know my chronological order sounds downright GOOFY but those of you who know my story know that I have waited over 31 years for another 72 SE Brougham with this drivetrain combo to come along. To be frank, I just DON'T WANT TO WAIT another season to be driving it!! So forgive my goofiness, okay, and thanks again for the comments and encouragement, and for reading this short reply. ~Jer~
