The black housings really set off the chrome bezels....I might have to do one of mine like that!!
"Back in the day", there were a lot of California cars taken down to TJ (Tijuana) to have their famous and relatively cheap tuck 'n roll jobs done....
So much so, that California auto upholstery shops began offering that style.
I live down south of you in the valley, Bakersfield, and it's nice to see that I'm not the only one to install a summer umbrella/cabana over my car to make it bearable to work on...
I used buckets and sand, I'm going to have to give the steel-rims method a shot!! ;D

I vote for Gunmetal. It's rare and the color really draws a lot of interest at the car shows and cruise-ins.

Hmmm, gunmetal votes for gunmetal. No bias there. ;D
But I've liked that color since I had a summer job in Georgia (door to door sales in early '70s) and saw a Charger with a dark gray gunmetal paint job.
