Tom, did yours have the extra 'HP' data plate on it like the car I saw on Monday? The seller claimed that he did a pencil rub on the very short main data plate and the HP one, sent it to Galen GOvier, and then got a personal call from GG saying how valuable his car was!!!! The Big E Big E, I do not remember mine having an HP fender tag. As far as the guy getting a call from GG saying how valuable his car is/was..... It looks like BS, smells like BS, and feels like BS I don`t believe for a minute that GG called anybody to tell them how valuable their bench, seat column shift, 318, green on green 72 Charger Topper is. Heck, there are WAY to many stories of folks with legitimately rare and $$$$$ cars waiting years and years to hear from him. This hobby is so full of people who want to make big deals out of everything. Everybody wants their car to be rare. I aint buying into the rare V4G roofed Toppers or the 72 Bengal Chargers. Ooooops...did I just say 72 Bengal Charger? Ray Superduperbee should "get" that obscure reference. My buddy has a 72 Bengal, I can email photos to anyone who wants them. The problem is it's a 318 2bbl, bench seat car. Other than the emblems and orange paint/black halo top there's nothing special about the car. It may be worth $8-12000 restored, but would cost $30000 to restore, so for now it's being used as a huge paperweight so the garage wont blow away.

Ray, I am familiar with your buddies car. The 72 Bengal Charger. He and the previous owner both posted pics and info about it on d-c.com. I think its fair to say that he did not much care for my opinion on the car from a value perspective. There was a 2nd one that was on Craigslist out West a few years ago that the owner wanted ridiculous money for. (about 10x what it was "worth" While I find the cars to be interesting and unique, its hard for me to believe that a 318, bench seat, column shift 72 Charger would attain big $$$ collector status based on 2 small emblems.

Maybe there is a "Bengal Topper X" 72 charger? Imagine that....bright orange with a turtle grain halo roof. Stormhammer would be proud

That was my point, that while the car is rare and documented as original etc. It's lack of desirability makes it not worth pouring 30-50 grand into a $10000 car.
