Ever notice how the upper screw holes are broken out or cracked on most clusters? Only 1 of these 3 is OK This 1 is completely gone I greased up a couple of pocket screwdrivers (the kind with a short phillips on the top are best for this lil project) & scuffed up the plastic around the holes. Then propped the cluster upright.... and added JBWeld. It's stronger than plastic & easy to shape with a Dremel. All that's left is to flatten out the new top surface & it's good to go

Very inventive and creative, Brock. Good information, great pics, and a great thread! Thanks from all of us (You DO know that JB weld was named after me, right?) Jer. (P.S.: I'll need 2 of those screwdrivers sent to me though.)

Very innovative for a southern boy. Great job Brock. I'll have to remember this the next time I see one cheap with broken tabs.

brock I am working on mine now and they are cracked and I have part of the collar still there is the jb weld like putty that is then shaped around the screwdriver. Also what kind of grease did you use so it does not stick. I only have 1 so I have to do the best in one shot.

brock I am working on mine now and they are cracked and I have part of the collar still there is the jb weld like putty that is then shaped around the screwdriver. Also what kind of grease did you use so it does not stick. I only have 1 so I have to do the best in one shot. Grease in any form gets in the way of stuff actually succesfully bonding. All the greased screwdriver does is maintain the original hole while the original housing gets built back to stock. JBWeld is just 1 mixable epoxy that is compatable with plastic. Use what you like or have. You can even skip the screwdriver trick. Just fill 'er in with whatever & work it all back to the shape you want. My whole epiphany was this: the little screwdrivers that companies give away for advertising? Yeah those are dang near the correct diameter of the recess for this mounting point. Cuts down on the work envolved to near no work at all. The ones with the little phillipshead on the top even maintain the stock screw opening better than a screwdriver with a magnet on the end. Carry on with your own approach & share what you discover. I am into learning & would never put my ego ahead of someone elses perspective. If you should, in fact experiment with various epoxies: don't start with JBQuick. I still am not good enough at this type of repare to try that again
