its a 727 Torqueflite! i may be new to mopars (2 years and counting) but i know those were only installed on the big block engines and the hemi as an automatic or manual. how many of those were put out in the 68 - 74 time period? #AmericanFlag1#

Calm down grasshopper..... ........ the 727 was the only automatic option on a 68-74 big block. Small blocks came with 904 or 727, and both are designated as torqueflite transmissions. The 4 speeds of that era are 833 trans.

For smallblock is D34 a 904? My tag has D34 but the case numbers on my trans say its a 727. Have you determined if your trans is "numbers matching" to the car AND can you visually tell the difference between a 904 and 727? The difference can be easily noticed by the shape of the trans pan. Your trans may have been changed sometime in the last 34 years. 904 was standard trans with a 318. I have only seen sb 727 behind 340 and 360`s. I would not be surprised if 727`s came in HD applications such as taxis or cop cars.

It has the numbers matching trans in it. I am not by the car right now to check the pan.

D13 72-74 3-speed manual trans floor shift D14 72-74 3-speed manual trans column shift D15 72-74 3-speed manual trans column shift H.D. D21 72-74 A904 3-speed auto trans D32 72-74 A727 3-speed auto trans D34 72-74 Std duty auto trans D35 72-74 Heavy duty auto trans D36 72-74 A727 3-speed auto trans D41 72-74 Heavy duty clutch What's the difference between a D32 and a D36? Why has my 440 Magnum got D34 on the fender tag when it's an A727 Maybe it's a Lynch Road thing Best bet is to do what Tom suggests and crawl underneath...
