I was going to put this on the tail end of "How Rare Is Blue", but I've been pushing the edge of the Hi-Jack Envelope so much lately that I'm starting to feel like D.B. Cooper! (Anyone older than 35 will know who he is and what he was famous for...or rather infamous.) Anyway, Brock made this statement in the Rare Blue thread: "I had planned on Black with a White vinyl top; because it looked so good on my first 70 Charger R/T. Now that another has chosen that combo I'll probably leave the vinyl top off & go straight black."My reply to that, Brock, and the purpose of this Post, is Paint your Car and Choose your Vinyl Top color to please you!!With apologies to whomever these cars belong to for "stealing" their pics, here's a beautiful black SE w/ WVT...except for the wheels the fender badges, and the deck pins, I would be ecstatic for mine to end up looking this good:I like the above pic so much, it's on my computer wallpaper for Motivational Purposes! And here's a Black on Black SE, for comparison....again, a fabulous looking Charger:And, just to be fair, here's a great looking non-SE, with one of the best black non-vinyl roofs I've seen:The above car ALMOST made me consider a non-vinyl roof...I just LOVE the shine on that black sail panel!! Again, my apologies for liking these cars so much that I stored them on my computer....Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!! Sorry Brock, I couldn't locate a pic of a non-vinyl black on black SE...there's probably a reason for that....and I bet it has something to do with the mess I found under MY 72 SE vinyl top!! [Remember that last sentence, Brock, when you consider leaving the vinyl top off....lotta fill in work on our 72's to accomplish that, Ol' Buddy!!] #hammer# #hack# #washwax# ~Jer~ Note: For all I know I stole all of these pics from our Members Chargers section, but I'm too lazy to check!!

I really like the second one. Mine will be somewhat like that. But I don't think I'm going to worry with the Charger fender emblems, mine will have the power bulge hood with hood pins, and will have Black with Ice Pearl paint. Also different wheels. I am highly concidering deep tinting the windows, but keeping it legal... Wonder how it will turn out...

Sorry, Jer: Thats not a white top in the pic you posted. Then again, the car in the above pic isn't black either. I hope those people on this site that may actually own these awesome motivational masterpieces will post more pics of them. Think of us as backup files My chunks of off brand Bondo aren't as thick as yours Jer but just as cracked out. The third pic you posted has also made me ponder the virtues of the enormous amount of work needed to do a non vinyl top SE. All I am certain of on this subject is that it really works marvelously on a 70 Superbird So much rain these days around here - plenty of time for dreamin n planning Thanks for the comparo Jer I forgot I had the pic above till now. I don't care for the badges on the fender either Hotrodder. I love the Script & wreath on the C pillars - just not actully mounted on the car. I love the mirrors too - but prefer body color. Sounds like your color will have character Hotrodder! Do you have a sample you can post? I also don't like the pinstripe that goes over the wheelwells. Some day, I see us all entered in a nationwide carshow. We'll try to park close together - cause thats what friends do. We outta show some differences to the crowd

Sorry, Jer: Thats not a white top in the pic you posted. I beg to differ, Sir! On my computer, that IS a white vinyl top that's wrapped around a sunroof!! Don't make me print a hard copy and bring it to you, Brock!

Don't have a color sample, most I can say however is that House Of Kolor offers the paint. A local paint supply store sales it, starter kit is around $200. Pretty much has everything except a spray gun, hose, compressor, and PPE.... www.houseofkolor.com/hok/index.jspI tried to find the kit info on the site, couldn't find it. IMO there site could have been setup a little different than what it is... Oh well. The above link is to there homepage, so if interested, check it out. The pin striping I will also be leaving off. I would ahve already bought the kit, but instead of having it sit around until I finaly get the car ready for paint, I'd rather wait until I get closer to having it ready for paint.... Therefor, hopefully the paint will be a little fresher rather than older.... Then again... Who knows exactly the can(s) you get/got have been sitting on a shelf?

White tops on Black cars is cool Cheers You raise a valid shelf life question concerning paint Hotrodder! I dunno - but I like your reasoning The bad thing about "shelf life" is the fact that I don't know what the time frame is, or anything else. But one thing I know for sure is that an unopened can will last longer than an open one.... Common since imo. But on the other hand, I've heard that there is a shelf life on paints, and paint products, once they've sat up for so long, they're supposed to be removed from circulation, from there, good question.... This is why I said I'm going to hold off until the time for paint get's closer, hopefully there want be any issues reguarding the shelf life issue. But I will say this much, a while back, my dad had bought my grandfathers original '70 Charger 500. He had bought some paint to have the Charger painted with, I think it was Fire Ball red, and he was going to have the white vinyl top replaced with other white one, and he left the factory 15" ralley's on it. Anyway, I know he had that paint for some time, b/c each time I went over to his place, there it sat, pretty much in a corner, waiting for the day it would be put to use. Eventualy he did paint the Charger.... Of course, the fools who painted it, took the fender tags off for what ever reason, and didn't put them back on #SayWhat# #BBbad# . Also whoever replaced the vinyl top, didn't put the Charger sail panel emblems back on the car, but at least they didn't loose those.... But anyway, the point of all that is, he let that paint sit some time before he got around to putting it to work, bow I don't know if shaking up the can every once in a while would do any good to help keep the paint from settling or what not, but I say, I'm going to hold off from buying the paint product kit until that time comes. Hopefully there want be any issues in that department..

Mine top was originally green. It really looked crappy. I had all the trim that was painted green painted black to match the top. To include the lovers on the side windows. Like was already said, what ever you like, you paint. Can't wait to see the outcome. Bob

It was a green 74 SE with a white top & interior that first made me want to be a Charger man - King Richard helped too!! I love that green & it looks great with that black top - good move

i dont know what it is but plum crazy and white tops and light blue colors just look so awesome! stands out so much! mine is one of those booger green colors. i think its willow green... its ugly but ill change the paint to either light blue, plum crazy, or paint it to imitate buddy baker's NASCAR charger. YES with the 11 and all. anyone ever think of doing that?
