I remember you mentioning that I should post in the toolbox
thread during the NAA tour - but, I never saw the thread till
now
I got a dream job of mine back in 92. I was hired as a mechanic
at a forklift shop! I had basic tools & a tacklebox to hold them.
I used a service truck to do PMs at our customers' sites & got
right to outfitting 2 carryboxes (standard & metric) for all I would
need up to 1/2" drive. The bigger stuff was on the truck. I put
10% of my pay towards tools every week. I had a 3x6 rollaround
desk to use at the shop - but was soon in need of a real toolbox.
So, I saved up my 10% for 10 weeks to buy my topbox. No bearings
here - but with grease the drawer slides have even gotten SnapOn
by for years! That was my Christmas present & all the real Christmas
money went to my sweet wife & kids!
Tore all the ligaments in my back & neck in car wreck back in
94. Got laid up for 1.5 years. Got used to having my tools at
home. Was doing side jobs to feed the family & buying tools
to carry out the work & managed to save up for the bottom
box. Seems like a lifetime ago, really; because we are so blessed now.
My sidebox is maybe Waterloo? It's a bit wider than the good
Craftsman - but it'll do. I can't say that I have alot of tools - I
never went for Bob Villa specials or anything like that - but, I
have what I've needed to build engines, trannies, suspensions,
brakes & just about everything that has presented an opportunity!
Looks like you done good to me Jer
