Jer, Sometimes when I do a search a small box will appear and the search is cut and dried. Sometimes it's the whole page with all the areas checked off. I have no luck with the full page search criteria but with the little box it works better. Why is there 2 different search types? Bob

Bob, First of all, I moved this from the Executive Lounge because I felt it was a topic of interest that may or may not be beneficial to all of our members.
My first thought was that you're getting the "full page" search when you're opening from the Main Page, and the smaller box when you're opening from within a Board/Category.
The search function of this forum is SUPPOSED to allow that latitude, in that once you open up--for example--Mopar Garage, any searches originating from there will ALLEGEDLY be limited to that specific board.
I don't have the answer for you, until I do some experimenting myself.
THE SEARCH FUNCTIONS of this forum are the real Achilles Heel of it...it's constant failure and frustration-inducing results are going to be one of the main reasons that we're PROBABLY going to be moving this forum to another venue.
That may or may not be happening in as few as 4 to 6 months, meanwhile please bear with me as we all struggle with our nearly-useless Search Function.
Just for kicks and giggles, another great and happy result of "The Move" will be that I will be able to "split off" threads and posts....kind of like a TV Series Spin-off....
If one or more posts WITHIN A THREAD are deserving of their own thread (or need to be moved to another more applicable thread), I'll be able to move JUST THAT POST (or those posts) and not the entire thread....
Something that I can't do right now with the Pro Board parameters (unless I want to cut and paste the post message and then start the new thread under MY authorship).
I HAVE--in the past--asked members to re-write their own posts into another thread, but that's a huge pain in the arse, and shouldn't be necessary.
As I say, let me do some research on your issue, Bob, and a little experimenting, and see what I can come up with.
Thanks for your (and all the Forum's) patience in this.
Jer.

GOT IT! From the main page there is only one search command. When you open a section there are two search commands.

Yep...I see what you are saying....from inside a section, there's a second one in the lower left corner....and that's the one that launches the small window! Good catch Bob.

I prefer the smaller box. Seems to work better than the whole page thing.
