Okay so I am still on the hunt for my first 1973 Charger and have seen quite a few. But I have noticed when looking at them that most of them (SE's) have a louvered opera window. Most of these are bolt on but I have come across 3 cars now that seem to have it as part of the body. See attached Pict for reference. Is there a difference in the models and if so is there a specific number in the vin I should be looking for if I want a car that has this option?

SEs are WP29. The louvers are plastic and are screwed on, inside and outside. The glass is stationary and therfore, the drip rail only covers the door glass. Rust under the vinyl is a common problem and some eliminate the vinyl and paint the roof. I would guess the one in the photo had the gaps filled with bondo or fiberglass. In my opinion, a stupid move to fill the gap and also not to put vinyl back on. Looks unfinished. Don't know exactly what you are in the market for, but the red SE also has the wrong seats.

Yes, Steve is correct. They never came from the factory that way. And I also agree it doesn't look right. When you look you'll also find SE's that someone has replaced to vinyl roof with the wrong grain. The louver window outside has a certain "grain" to it that matches the roof. The correct roof is called "Cobra Grain". I've run across MANY including the one I bought (that I promptly removed) that are like that. I attached one for example that I took over the summer. I find it hard to believe that some people can't tell. Maybe they just don't care. Anyway, the picture shows the correct outside louver which is actually fiberglass and the matching inside one is plastic. Other than the non-matching vinyl, this is correct.

Well, anything can be done ... BUT. Remember, the rear window in most cases on a Rallye goes up and down. There is a post that doesn't exist on Rallyes as well as you can see above that continues from the drip rail. Here is a pic of mine at the body shop with the inside and outside louver removed. You can clearly see the post.

SEs got some small specific body parts to fit the opera windows… diff drip rail, small B pillar and the door latch/jam panel are specific sheet metal parts diff, but the rest, 99.99% of the Charger SEs body is the same than any other Charger. The opera window setup itself is an add on over the existant sheetmetal shared with the rest of models.
