Bob, what color did you paint the headlight doors? They look gray. Some sort of silver and a little darker color for the center. Probably no correct but I liked it.

You are right. Not the "correct" color scheme. but as long as you like it, that's all that matters.

Looks great! Hide aways give it a great look. That's an exciting change.
I'm going to paint mine eventually. What kind of paint? Spray can ? Anything special for better adhesive?

I have re-done a couple using spray cans, attempting to duplicate the original look. While they came out looking great, rattle can paint is not durable.
Within 6 months they will look like crap again. Might last a little longer on a garage kept car. Next set I do, will be done with catalyzed spray gun paint.

Bob, since you asked......the recesses on the doors and inner grilles should be black. I use a low gloss black. In my opinion....the black paint helps bring out the chrome better. I use a textured silver on the grille surrounds.....and a darker color textured gray on the center strip of the doors and inner grille.

I went out and checked the 2 cans of paint I got. The color for the hole thing was stainless steel by duplicolor. It had a picture of a tuff wheel on the can. The center line color is VHT high temp wheel paint which is a little darker than the stainless steel. Tom, how did you do the black in those little areas?

Not to say that it is the correct way...but I spray the whole darn thing black, then remove the new paint off the chrome ribs with paint thinner on a rag and/or a razor blade.
As far as that $150 headlight door....its been on eBay for over a year, with no takers.
