Guys, we are on a undeclaired civil war! This is for real!
And is not a formal civil war just because the opposition civilians is unarmed and the army is on goverment side ( or at leas the official heads ). If some part of the army decides not to take orders from the high officials, this can become on a real civil war!

ok... let's see.
we won't have a civil war mainly because the opposition doesn't want to get to that level ( althought some ppl wants to beat this goverment in ANY WAY AS POSIBLE ) plus is imposible to get the civilians tottally armed. There is not ( untill now ) any country able to support military the local opposition, like is happening in Syria... what actually I think will never happen.
There is a students group what call themself LA RESISTENCIA ( the resistence ) who is batttling ( once again, without weapons but stones, molotovs and "puputovs" L:O:L ) on streets againts the NG and police in all the country. They are part of all the civilian manifestations and marchs. When the NG and Police begins to attack the manifestations to get them "disolved", they take the offensive position and defend the manifestations. Some of them have being able to get kidnapped ( temporally ) some NG and Police guys, getting them naked and tie them on light poles. They have being able to invade soem of the NG and Police office and burn them. Couple of police were kidnapped to be traded for couple of studdents what got arrested ( dunno what happened with that by now ).
There is another group called "Los Colectivos" ( the collectives )... these groups were INITALLY loooong time ago created by the goverment just to handle several social issues, just like the comunism is. Lot of these groups are actually mercenaries, supported by the goverment, and in fact they are armed. Several of the deaths on these last 6 weeks were produced by these "Colectivos"
Is amazing how the NG and Police are working somehow together with "Los Colectivos" to "disolve" all the opposition manifestations, and the goverment denies that. There are hundred of videos from oppositors cellphones showing that and the goverment still deny that. Actually I won't get you "bored" with all these videos. I think mostly of them are not in youtube, but instagram, tweeter and facebook vids, so I can't post those easilly here. I'm not in instagram or tweeter and facebook links are not easy to be get and post. Is really amazing how these street battles are reaching this level, although is not the first time... we have couple of these several years ago, but not for this long time.
Why I'm saying we are allmost on a civil war ? ( if what I have posted above is not enough )... ok Yesterday appeared couple of videos more what I think are important. One of them shows several ppl ASSAULTING who supposelly is the VICEPRESIDENT OF THE SUPREME COURT, fight him on a mall. There is another one on same mall where ppl goes against a militar just walking around. They don't fight against him, but insulting him like a traitor to the constitution... he is saved by the safety crew of the mall.
PPL down here is done, is up to the limit. There is not more patiente. Will try to post those two vids. I want to check if the vid of the supreme court vicepresident is really truth.

OH!!! and there is more!!! all the Venezuelans around the world are assaulting the venezuelan embassies, consulates also all the goverment relateds who are "enjoining" the stolen money around the world.
Everytime some Venezuelan Embassy wants to make some meeting or conference to "explain" what is happening in Venezuela trying to justify the goverment actions, the Venezuelans living there enters there and acusses them about the false information they give, sabotaging the conferences.
All the Venezuelans living outside are getting pics and addresses of the located corruptors and goverment relateds, making them public to get them assaulted.
Socialism is great, but all the goverment ministers, governors, mayors sons are studying and living in Spain, USA, Australia, UK etc... soooo great the socialism!!!!
Everything of these is, once again, on web social medias, not on TV... we are on censorship at TV
on a side note... and I have told this in the past.... this is not about socialism or capitalism, this is not about leftist or rightist. I'm not one of the guys who tells the socialism is so bad and the capitalism is so good. Both have good and bads sides and I'm actually leftist, but THIS IS NOT left, this is corruption and power hungry.
One of my thought is the political system is not THE guilty about what happens, but the guys in charge are. A DICTATORSHIP is not the problem, because SOMETIMES a dictatorship is needed, to get fast solutions on a heavy crisis, but who is the dictator is the problem.

CNN just ran a short update on things in Venezuela. Reporter was saying that a bag of rice ( 3 pounds?) is equivalent to a month of work at minimum wage. If you put that in to perspective.....that's like paying $1200 for a bag of rice here.  Looks like a lot of tear gas is getting shot at the protestors. |

ok, economy changes everyday... I can talk about what is today, but dunno next week.
lets talk about ONCE AGAIN, money exchange like I did some weeks ago on this same thread
we have 3 US$ exchange rates ( insane ), 2 set somehow by the goverment, and the one set for the black market
1st rate is set at around 12 Bs per 1 US$... SUPPOSELLY used by the goverment to get medicines, some priority food products, some other priority economy sectors AND OF COURSE CORRUPTION ( but that's a diff hard to explain story ). But we have no medicines... so where is that dollar rate ? of course on the corruption sectors... aside that nobody knows
2nd rate is set by somekind of bidding market at banks... is set just for bussines ( not regular ppl ) however it seems is allowed is mainly attended to the enterprises on the goverment side ( call it once again corruption )... it has being changing between 700 and 750 BS per US$ on last weeks
3rd rate is the black market. Last year by this season was maybe at 600-700 Bs per US$ ( can't recall exactly ). One month ago was at 4000 Bs, today is at 5800 Bs per US$
Minimun wage set by goverment is TODAY ( was raised on May 1st ) MORE LESS ( can't recall the exact numbers ) at 60000 Bs, plus an extra 90000 Bs bonus called like "food bonus". This bonus is NOT INCLUDED on the calcs to the social security, end of the year bonus or retirement wage or whatever similar. That set the full minimun wage on around 150K Bs per month. I can be wrong on the exact numbers at this moment
lets use the rice bag since you posted about that ( 1 Kg which is around 2 lbs ). Two weeks ago was on around on OFFICIAL PRICE 2800 Bs, now is around 4500 Bs. BUT HEY... thats the official price on supermarkets. Of course THERE IS ALSO A BLACK MARKET FOR IT... can be on 6000 or 7000 Bs per bag too
so... on Official goverment regulated fixed price of the rice bag:
at 1st US$ rate, is rated at US$375
at 2nd US$ rate, is at US$6
at 3rd US$ rate ( black market ) is at US$0.78
so whats the US$ real price ? we don't know. Imposible to set it. We usually set it at the black market US$ price, since is the only US$ market we really get access.
So, on the black market price is really cheap... even cheaper than the price you get in the States for any product. I set a similar example for the powdered milk some posts back... but the real problem are the incomes on each family!
lets set the minimun official wage... around 150K. We can get around 34 rice bags... it seems to be a lot ?... just appearence, but lets make the real comparision HOW MANY 2 LBS BAGS OF RICE CAN YOU GET WITH THE MINIMUN WAGE IN THE STATES ?
and now, what about meat? carrots ( 1 kg of carrots is at around 8K Bs ), cooking oil, tomatoes, chicken... and what about services ? transportation ? and what about if you get sick ?

and HEY thats about the products AVAILABLE... but what about those are not in stock...
and won't talk about those products what we have to wait to the day of the week we are allowed to buy, regulated price ones and the long lines to be able to buy it at the regulated price, and just allowed to buy maybe couple of bags by person, where usually most of ppl doesn't reach. Usually stock ends way before all the ppl of the line is able to get it. Sometimes we have to wait for couple of hours on line to reach the product IF there is stock for it at the supermarket. Once it ends, if you need it badly... have to go to the black market ate 50% or double of the price in some cases... now do the maths at black market
time frame... I hope by sept/oct this year, but everytime I set a plan, something happens and have to change it. Need to note I'm have HEAVY issues at home with drugs and alcohol. I have got a death menace from my brother.

now my personal incomes... by the end of last year I had maybe 12 to 20 labor days maybe getting 20K to 30K bs per labor day as a sound tech installator. Now I'm just getting maybe 2 labor days per month ( although last month was just one day ), getting 120K Bs per day as asound tech operator ( self employed ). Would need to make the prices rates on those days and compare it with now to show you, but the fact was, last year we were tight, but wasn't a desesperating situation yet.
need to say ALL the kind of jobs are stuck. So average ppl is not spending anymore on go to the movie or whatever recreational, just thinking on food. That's where all the money is going. Not anymore to save some on the bank, pleasure or whatever... just thinking on food and praying not to get sick.
need to note, SOMETIMES everyone needs to go out and get some pleasure for ourself. Last week a friend I had long time without talk ( a 73 Charger owner by the way ) and met at a McDonalds ( yes... a McDonalds meeting can be a pleasure at this moment ) and spent 30K Bs. I invited him... now do the maths. It can be just US$6-7 for two McMenus or McCombos, or whatever you call it ( can't recall it )... but how much of my income was that ? think on it
