Jeez, very sorry to hear this Nacho. Venezuela has been out of the news up here...I was hoping that was because things were getting better.

I was updated by my shipper about shipping quotes. Need to get AT LEAST 6 cubic feet to justify the US$140 they will charge me as minimun charge by sea ( from 1 to 6 cubic feet that's the minimun charge ), then for any extra cubic foot, will be charged US$17.5.

They own me 2.5 cubic feet anyway because they made a mistake last time charging me more than what I really got.

but guys, let's make it somehow in order.

Here is an updated list. I'm talking in liters and kilograms since we are not in imperial measurements, but 1 liter is around quarter of gal, and 1 kg is around 2 lbs


---Shampoo... we use around half of liter per month... If some prefference, grease hair, and dry hair. We don't care about conditioner, but if shampoo is 2 in 1 with conditioner is good too.

---Soap for the bath... we use one per week... we really don't care which kind is.

---toilet paper ( WC paper )... last time we found that was maybe 4 or 5 months ago, maybe more. There is ppl around which has found but for whatever reason we don't. We are using nakping so clean our asses allog with the bideth ( when we have enough napkins, sometimes I wash my and put my underwear still wet to save napkins )... we use at home maybe a roll every 2 weeks, sometimes less sometimes more, depending of the thickness. Lats time I got a roll from an hotel I was while was on a job, so I stole it and take it to home.

---Deodorant... Myself I use maybe one per month and we are 4 at home. My mom and dad use less. No gel kind please since I'm alergic to those ( it burns my skin ) regular speed stick is nice though, ALTHOUGH the roll on kind is better. We still have some reserves, but we don't know when will be able to find more

---Cooking oil... Sunflower oil is good. Corn oil is really nice too. Olive uses to be really expensive so don't worry about it. We use at home maybe 1 liter every 3 weeks. Sometimes we can find cooking oil, but double of the price. Last wednesday my last bottle got finished and had to get one in emergency at double of the price ( black market )

---Powdered milk... I think last time we bought milk was in November ( and maybe May/June before that ) and could get maybe 4 kgs. We USED to use maybe 1 kg every 3 weeks when we were able to buy powdered Chocolat and cereals such as corn flakes or whatever other kind. That was looooong time ago. We have changed our food habits with whichever are able to find or whatever we are able to pay. My breakfast used to be half of liter of chocolated milk with cereals. NOT ANYMORE... go figure! Venezuela produces one of the best Chocolats in the world and becomes hard to find and when we do, we can't buy it!!!

---Beans... I don't mean the beans on cans, but the dry one sold in bags... which ever kind of beans... also lentils, chickpeas... they are UNPAYABLE down here. We don't have an use rate for it. But whatever you want to include. I think my mom uses one kg on every meal for the family and sometimes get for some extra meal to save on the refrigerator

---Sugar... we use maybe 1kg per month

---Rice... Regular, Parboiled, integral, with flavors... doesn't really matter.

---Weath flour... both, regular and leavening.

---Spaguethi, Linguini, Macarroni... I think we use 1 lb per every meal we have at home for all 4.

---Cheese, but of course fresh cheese is not posible... what kind of chease ? well, parmesan, for the spaguetti which uses to be packaged ready for it. That will save THE MONEY for the fresh cheese locally. I think the last time I tasted Parmesan cheese on the spaguetti was maybe one year ago, maybe more.

---Tuna cans or whatever similar.

NOTE: SOME OF THESE ON THE LIST are still available but just after wait on line at front of the supermarket for 2 or 3 hours. I could buy some rice and Spaguetti last week, but this is being a headache because I have to stop my life just to buy food. I couldn't buy one kg of sugar and 4 rolls of toilet paper later because I had a meeting job.


Some stuff is sometimes available but is imposible to be paid... too expensive due the inflation. THESE ARE NOT PRIORITY, but some will be nice
-oats ( which anyway without milk to make breakfast, we don't buy it )
-cereals ( same as above )
-Powered Chocolate ( same as above )
-Ketchup
-Mayonaise
-Whatever other kind of sauce to add to the food and salads ( barbeque, blue cheese, etc... )
-Spaguetti sauces.
-butter
-Coffe ( this is not a priority but... we can trade it for some other need locally with ppl which loves and needs coffe and could get some other product from them... yes we are trading product between us ), or maybe sell it. we actually don't drink coff... or maybe just a lb could last long 1 months, just for my dad or some visitor


Whatever you want to add personally will be nice too, you are human beings like me so we eat the same . I liked A LOT the dry beaf sticks ( I can't recall the name of it ) when I was there. That can save a meal around. Maybe couple of bottles of soap for the dishes, maybe powdered soap for the cloth.

need to be carefull about whatever is being sent because get 12 bottles of shampoo for a full year is not needed ( I think and I HOPE ) so that's why is better to get this in order. Better some other stuff before 12 bottles of shampoo. 6 or 8 bottles should be enough

cooking oil maybe 8 or 10 bottles will be nice, because that should last long between 7-8 months...

Toilet paper... 12 rolls, maybe more... 20 ?... unfortunatelly this will take lot of room. There is not a chance to save that

powdered milk, 12 kgs is nice because getting that, I will be able to get the regular food habits at home. Oats, Cereals and powdered chocolat are available here even WAY EXPENSIVE, but ship some will be helpfull

just think on that and try to work as a team


about liquids... seal the caps... duct tape or similar to save from leaks

bottles... of course plastic is better, glass could be a mess and a lost

EVERYTHING IS ON CARDBOXES AND STILL GET THE CONTENT IN PLASTIC SEALED BAGS is better to rid off the boxes to save room. Just label the bags, maybe with the same cardbox brand... such as cereals to the milk like cornflakes or stuff like that ( I'm talking about cornflakes just as an example because is worldwide known, but ANY kind of cereal, I like cornflakes but is not my fav one LOL )


Have to go... the bakery will make bread now and have to run to get TWO BARS of bread ( just give two bars by person, my mom is already there waiting in line )... will continue later

This is a reply I wrote to Tom last week after he wrotte me a PM asking about the situation here... will copy and paste to ilustrate you:

Hi Tom... well, I don't know what to tell you, where to begin. AND I don't know if my english will be really enouth to explain this, since my english is more toward to automotive and sound tech areas.

Yes we are really bad. Ppl is searching food on trash cans all around. They use to wait the restaurants trash bags to hunt for food on them. Including McDonald's, KFC and everykind of fast food trash bags. Sometimes you can find ppl fighting with the trash trucks for whatever they find. I can give you several videos uploaded on youtube about that and sometimes I have taken pics by myself of ppl fighting for the trash. Lot of ppl WHICH IS NOT HOMELESS, wait for the trash bags from houses and buildings, trying to find anything... to eat, or save anything to fix and sell to somebody.


Food stock is low, and we have to wait lined up in front of supermarkets to be able to find whatever is available. The situation got us to be able to buy some specific products ( the hardest to find ) just once a week by your last ID digit.

then those bussines what also opens on weekends, adds from 0 to 4 on Saturday and 5 to 9 on Sunday. My last ID digit is 7, so I can buy on thursday. BUT that is JUST when the supermartket have what I need. Because is unusefull that is my day but the supermarket is empty.

and, que are not talking about de luxe food product, just the basic... cooking oil, sugar, flour ( corn and wheat ) powdered milk, Spagetti, bread, meat, chicken... you name it, even toilet paper for the W.C., soap... We eat lot pof bread at home, and sometimes I have to wait lined up on bakeries for couple of hours to get just two bread bars. And have to do it sometimes twice a day. ( that is not per ID last digit ).

Of course this is not about EVERYTHING but the really important. You can find easily a beer, or a Coke, or an apple, vegetables, fruits, but the price of the rest is very expensive.

Then prices... I'll give you just one example: one month ago one egg price was around 160 Bs ( Bolivares, local currency )... and today we paid 300 Bs by each egg. And that's with EVERYTHING.

Now, Medicines. It can take maybe one month searching for any medicine somebody needs... and that's IF you find it. My Father got prostathe cancer and has being 6 or 8 months since he took his medicine last time. Sometimes even the basic medicines are hard to find, even for a headache somtimes, or a flu! lot of ppl has passed away waiting to find their medicines. Even childs.

and thats with the basic... now try to find a battery, a tire, some car replacement part.

All this situation has got us into a black market for everything where of course you have to pay double of the normal price. A cooking oil bottle usues to cost maybe 3000 Bs ( by a liter ), and ppl on the black market sell them in 8K to 10K Bs.

Then... the incoming money. This month will get maybe around 500K Bs ( back in 2015 I could get 50-80K Bs by a month and it was maybe somehow fine, maybe not really enough but will buy enough food and pay services ) and we are expecting will be spending maybe 800KBs JUST in some of food. call it inflation! I'm supporting now my parents and my brother too. My parents are getting retirement incomes but not enough. They are getting maybe 200K BOTH together. So try to imagine that money to buy the food they could be needing. I still ( of course ) live with my parents, not because I want, but simply because I can't get my own home.

I quit my job back in september because felt it was taking me to nowhere so now I'm now a freelance ( self employed ). Can get maybe more money for some specific job, but is harder to find any job to do. Dunno what will get on April.

I have lost around 35 lbs in last 12 months. Part of that is due a personal issue what got me into a depression ( love stuff, my ex GF ) but mostly the weight I have lost is due the economical situation.

This situation is not really for politics ( leftist or rightist ) is about corruption, thats all. Corruption is everywhere.

Then, in the middle of this... I STILL HAVE TO FINISH MY CAR!!!! body job is being finished to get into the paint. Engine was disasembled to fix some stuff it got... and I HAVE to finish it because being I sell it locally or I take it with me to Spain ( yes thats my goal this year ) it HAS to be finished, no matter what I can't stop it at this moment. If I have to sell it ( here or in Spain ) must be paid as a fully assembled and operative car, not in pieces because nobody will pay what it worths if is in pieces. Fortunatelly the body man is a good friend of mine and I told him I will pay when I'm able to do it, mostly sre when I find a job in Spain. He already has gotten more of half of the payment since he began to work on it anyway so he is in peace with that.

more about hungry ppl. I HAVE FIND ppl trying to catch pigeons to eat them. One friend of mine found parts of a dog on a street... somebody found and killed a dog to eat it!

Militaries are handling everything and they are part of the corruption. They handle everything and decide who and how to sell it.


why I'm posting this about my car needing to be finished ?, because IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS maybe you can find I could be buying some part for my car ( or my pareents car which is damaged at this moment ) and I DON'T WANT you take this on a bad way... needing food and getting help from you and I'm buying some car parts which supposelly is not a priority... well, somehow is a priority for the reason exposed. I have some money saved at my paypal from some stuff I have being selling around, to get the funds to pay what my car will need to be finished... including the job itself to the bodyman
