Good idea on the Amazon/Walmart thing Tom. I've been pondering the shipping cost. Sent DynoDave a message (I think) to see if we can get together w/some others from this area and ship a large box.

Good idea on the Amazon/Walmart thing Tom. I hope so...I just signed up on Amazon tonight. You get a 30 day free trial of Prime membership which allows for free shipping on many items. After that, it is $10.99 a month I think. Which is a great deal if you order a lot of stuff online. I have several 17x13x13 boxes already packed and ready to ship. Around 60 lbs each. Shipping from GA to Florida is going to be close to $50 each on those boxes. $47 Fed EX, $55 Post office, $70 UPS Will be higher for you guys shipping further distances. So, in my opinion, your $$$ would be much better utilized buying on Amazon, utilizing the free shipping and having the stuff sent directly to the shipper in Florida.

guys, thats is insane! US$50 per box is really insane
This is really embarrasing. That is why even the thread began on sept last year, was evading out this.
thanks to you.
will try to post pics about the situation here. ppl lined up to buy everything. ppl eating from the garbage
the funny is you can enter on supermarkets and you feel it like shelfs are really full, but mostly of anykind of item but the important... and the items on shelf are out of any average buyer
for example WE GOT CEREALS HERE ( not too many, but some ), but priced around US$1.5 per box at black market money exchange rate ( US$6 at official rate ). It looks somehow cheap? yes, but think that my incomes on march were around US$180, and April maybe will be less than US$50 ( if doesn't float on some other job call ). Untill now just have one night schedulled for job on april 22, where usually I had maybe between 15 and 20 days schedulled per month ( average ), althought worst paid.

BTW, my mom asked me if is POSIBLE to get some condensated milk ( ist a literal translation from how we call it )... dunno how it calls up there, but is the sweeted milk, thick, usually in cans, used to deserts. This can be used also to save some milk and sugar on coffe and tea ( my mom drinks tea with milk at nights ) No need to be LOT of cans, but some. For emergency.
after our powdered milk run out of stock ( allong with sugar ) she used the last 8 cans we had just right for that.
NOTE we use powdered milk here at home, because liquid milk is way expensive too. Aside we used to drink LOT of milk. easier to storage the powdered one. If you get more, better if is the whole milk ( if price is good ).
and if you get more flour, the leavening one will be nice. I think with what Tom got, is enough of the regular one

Stores just stretch out what they do have to make the shelves look full. For instance, I saw one picture of a grocery aisle with nothing but Spaghetti sauce on the shelves.
