Hello folks, I have begun re-assembling my 72 Dodge Charger since i got it back from the body shop from a restoration, The car is now a rolling shell and has been apart for around eight years. I am somewhat overwhelmed with the amounts of brackets, wire retainers and etc that i have, I thought i did a good job labeling things but i guess not. I am looking for a high quality manual or manuals that show in detail where wiring brackets, underdash wire retainers, fuel line, brake line, vapor line brackets and etc go. I would also like to have a high quality electrical manual. I see various suppliers, year one, classic industries etc offering manuals but wasnt sure of the detail and quality. Looking for opinions and advice on what manuals i should buy to get the best detail and results. Thanks, Kirk

Hi Kirk. Factory service manuals may help some, especially in giving you fastener torque values. For good exploded view of assemblies...say a front bumper and grill system, it's hard to beat a factory parts manual.

with DynoDave. You can buy used ones, reproductions and CDs on Ebay. The Factory Service Manual is two books. Also, mymopar.com/parts-manuals/ has a scan of the 1972 Parts Book which will also help. You can find used copies on ebay. I use both of those all the time for my 74.

Unfortunately Mymopar doesn’t have the 72 factory service manual, BUT, if you don’t want to buy it ( CDrom, reprint or original used ) you can download the 71 which is there available and will work for the 72 on at least it 80-85% of the car. Differences are minimum… engine and package options, some of the electrical, quarter glass setup…

I've got the 72 FSM and have found it to be inadequate. The illustrations are too small and not all options are covered. Internet search helps fill in the gaps - whatever you're trying to install, someone out there is trying to sell it and they may have a picture posted that answers your question.
You can sometimes get answers here, but Forbbodiesonly.com has a more active forum. It helps to be on multiple forums.

The goods on the FSM is the full procedure process explained step by step to fix or check everything. I’m agree some of the diagrams could be some generic or without the small details.

Classic car wiring dot com has really nice full color, laminated wiring diagrams. Well worth the money.

I may have gone a little overboard, here are some of mine. Also have the laminated wiring diagrams and CDs. Have to say that I almost lean more on what I get helped with on the various forums.

You can never have too much information (unless it's in conflict). Where did the restoration and judging guidelines book come from? Haven't seen that one before.
