So I go diggin' in the parts manual for the correct 1971 part number for the radio noise suppression choke (silver capacitor connected to the coil) and the only one listed is for the Imperial Any of you guys with a 72 parts manual wanna take a look and see if there's a part number for one listed for the 72's? Thanks!

I fear that whatever I have is lacking. Is it a 8 - 35 - ..... part? I'm speaking in terms of parts book layout. 70 to 72 is my main course of study - but i readily admit i am a mear pupil in your class sir!

Thanks Dave, my 70-71 manual shows the same thing. I looked thru the TSB's and the only relevant one I found was D71-1-6 from 26-May-1971. Interesting but not helpful. So I'm now thinking the 71 and 72's didn't get a radio noise choke at the factory? The photo in my first post is a 2197674 for sale on feeBay by Mitchell Motor Parts but I can't find that part number listed anywhere. His listing says for 1961-1971 applications... #Thinking#

when I got an extra 400 block apparently from a later truck, there was one mounted... wire burnt misteriously when I mounted in my car and I think I still have it around... if I can dig it up, will check for PN. my 74 catalog doesn't list anything related with noise supression, BESIDE ground strap 3501362 just to C bodies item on catalog 1-87-73

Interesting bulletin.
Dealers are smart...if they'd have had a noise complaint, they'd have ordered up that Imperial part to make a complaining customer happy.
IIRC, I just saw a story on that part being reproduced...in MCG maybe?

What is it they say about great minds... ;D I had the same thought, but when I looked at the 2884928, it's obviously designed for mounting in a different location...
