Hi Folks, Here is the update on the sail panel logos for my 72 Charger Hardtop. I ordered two sail panel emblems, one from Year One, part number P2841886 (Chrysler, Mopar Performance), sold as a “1966-74 Charger Nameplate”. The other is from Layson’s Restorations, part number MR-04807, and is sold as a “71-73 Fender & C-pillar or 73-74 Door Script Emblem”. It has Chrysler part number 3504807 on the back. Here are the dimensions and some pics: Year One, length=7.75”, pin separation=6.0 inches Layson’s, length=6.25”, pin separation=3.08 inches The Year One logo has empty space between the letters. The Layson’s has solid metal between, painted black. It looks to me that the smaller logo from Layson’s is closer to the 72 model and the larger one from Year One is really for the earlier body style. There are two sets of holes on each of my sail panels; one set is 3.45 inches apart, the other is 1.4 inches. I assume the larger spacing is for the “Charger” emblem and the other is for the arrow. Notice that neither logo fits the holes. I suspect I will just have to work with what I have but I would love to know what the size of the “Charger” logo was on the original 1972 Anyone?

The 3504807 emblem is the correct size for the sail panel.

These are from my wall art collection. The green & white on the back ground paper are 1/2" wide. I hope that helps to gauge stud spacing. ................FIRST ....PN........YEAR........USAGE 2841887....1968......SAIL PNL 2898929....1968 3504807 3680687 2902306....1969..........TAIL Chrysler made part number introductions easy to check[edit: at least in the 50s & most of the 60s]. 1st no: 1 = 1950 up to 2 = 1960 up to 3 = 1970 2nd no = year. [edit: part/casting numbers beginning with a 3 aren't so cut & dry] The 807 is the same size as the 929, but has modified stud locations with studs removed[edit: studs are gone from mine & factory black stickum was used to apply them]. The 807 [edit "& its predecessor" out] is not hollow in the back like the 929. We need more input from others with additional part numbers and examples.

Hey Brock,
You say the 3504807 is the right one but the pins don't match for 1972 and in your post you also say it was first used in 1975.....??

Hey Brock, You say the 3504807 is the right one but the pins don't match for 1972 and in your post you also say it was first used in 1975.....?? I reread my post. I see I mentioned that the 929 & 807 are the same size. There must have been a version made between the 929 & 807, because the 807 studs don't line up for you & the 929 has 3 studs. I believe from looking at your pics that 2 studs are right for you - just not the 807 version. The 887 version has a 6" stud spacing. Sorry for the confusion.

I can't seem to find my reference material on the part number/casting number dating system that is described above. While it did seem to fit earlier cars: I must admit that there are plenty of exceptions all ready in the books by 1970. This is after a long & hard look at the 70-71 Parts Manual. According to the manual, the only sail panel emblem in 71 is the SE Wreath, if so equipped. All others were on the front fender. The 'Charger' emblem on the front fender is listed as 3504807 - yeah, in 71. So, I need a 72 + Parts Manual I'm off to fix my errors so as not to mislead anyone any further

The Paddock emblem looks good! Sorry that the description is all we have to go on. The part number on the back of mine is 3444937 (for the sail panel) The trunklid medallion in Jers pic is much smaller & is 3504811. I haven't seen a decklid medallion atually on a car before. Was this just a 71 thang? I just figured it to be a Challenger thang myself
