from exterior just sidemarker and wheel opening cut is higher on 73/74 ( around 1.5" )
inner parts diff are more importants
front splash shield and area where attachs are diff. 71 does not have the provisions to the 74 larger splash shield plus I think shape inside is diff too.
Radiator core suppor face on fender is smaller on 73/74, bigger on 71/72 ( if you try to fit a 73/74 on to 71/72 will get a gap ) so attaching points won't match
has been reported by a friend of mine that the plate where headlights pedestals attach on fender is further back on 71/72... dunno how much, maybe allso unnoticeable, but a friend of mine got to take care of that difference.
One of the attaching points on inner fender won't match
You can try to fit ? yes, beside the sidemarker will be allmos unnoticeable from exterior. Body lines will match

So has anyone done this swap? I have SUPER rusty ones on my 74, and these 71's are clean. Can it be done?
Thanks

can it be done? yes... will fit correctly inside ? not on every part as stated... noticeable from outside? no, unless you open the hood. Won't be able to fit the correct wheel opening moldings though. you won't be the first or the last one on make that why not one of these options: try to get 73/74 and sell the 71s ? 71 are more worthly and money will give you the chance to get the right ones and some extra money to work on the "new" ones or use the 71 as patches on your 74... as stated the exterior skin is basically the same

As easy as it is to find 73-74 fenders at a reasonable price, I`d say don`t do it. Nice 71 fenders are worth very good $$ to the right person.

Anyone have any fenders??? Thanks! I have one pretty decent 73-74 drivers side fender. I don`t want much $$ for it, but I do not have the time to package and ship it. If you are happen to be located in the South/Southeast, I might be able to deliver it.
