Ever since I read this thread I'd been wondering about the one I bought off eBay a while ago. Seems it's longer than the one in my '72. I think it was listed as a 71-74. Maybe I'll add a photo of the two I have.

I dug up this older thread because I'd like to change my filler tube. Part numbers are as follows: 1971 = 3466426 72 (up to 2/72) = 3466330 72 (after Feb) = 3642126 1973 and 74 = 3726073 I checked, none of the numbers superseded. It makes sense that the 73-4 would be longer due to the bumper sticking out a bit more. But I am in the same boat as Tom, no one has one new. And used seems to be a crapshoot. Any suggestions?

The 73 tank will work on the 74. I have already done it. I did cut off the hump from the old 74 tank with a small cutting wheel and spot weld it to the new 73 tank so it would pull up straight with the straps. You will have to use a couple vacuum tees to connect the 4 vent lines. The 74 I believe has only 1 or 2. The filler necks are the same.
