Does any one else have problems with pages that have many replies and pictures loading extremely slowly ... or is it just me?

I had the same issue with yesterday. I think it is one of the imageshack servers.

Mmmm, if that is where the pics are stored, makes sense. First I thought it was one computer, but it does it on all f them. Different providers too. OK, glad it isn'tme. Is there a way to set the amount of replys that show up on a thread/page?

The threads and posts per page are adjustable in General Settings, which is an Admin Function.
Right now it's currently set for 20 threads per page (i.e.: how many threads listed on one page in the Off Topic category, for instance),
And it's currently set for 30 posts (and/or replies) per page (i.e.: how many posts are listed on one page in any given thread, as in this thread: "Slow Threads".
I haven't adjusted either setting since I bought the forum from Pete, and as far as I know that has been the setting(s) since he first created the forum.
Sometimes it justs loads slow, other times not....the only thing we can do is limit the size of our uploaded pics to 640 x 480 resolution, which is supposed to be the maximum size allowed here.
When a pic shows "this image has been reduced by 45%" [for example], it is unbelievably slow in loading, as it has to actually "load" the full size of the pic and then reduce it down.
It's the number (and more importantly the SIZE) of the pics that slow down each page loading, and not the number of replies... you can confirm this by loading up a thread that has no pics in it and watch how blazingly fast it loads up.
Hope that helps, Bob.

Yes, you are correct about the pictures and I probably should have been clear in mentioning that. For example some restoration pages ... naturally you are going to record progress with an updated picture. And yes, those baby's load slowly, very slowly. I was just wondering if it was something on my end I could "adjust" but couldn't find anything in my settings/control panel. Thanks, Bob

I "hear" that this site is very slow from my place of employment. But I wouldn't really know....
It's fine here at home.
