as stated on your other thread, yes you can do it, however for a perfect matching pieces I would advice get also the front splash shield ( the one attached with front valence ) 71/72 and 73/74 are diff on shield and attaching area...
There are some other diff but won't affect on fitment. Wheel opening cut is about 1.5" higher on 73/74, what makes then aslo a diff molding there. Some others around maybe

Nacho, have you actually done a 72 to 73or74 swap? I don't doubt your knowledge because this site is dedicated to our year cars, but on "mopar chat and dodge charger" sites the guys told me they would not work at all. Please don't take it the wrong way. I just don't want to spend time and money on the wrong sheetmetal ya know.

I've seen 3/4 fenders on 72 cars, they bolt up.

I've seen 3/4 fenders on 72 cars, they bolt up. Which do you prefer Nakita? I think of you as a purist because of your interests, but I confess: I don't know. So, Ill ask you this: Would a lowered 72 Rallye look better or benefit from having 73-4 fenders with their raised wheelwell openings? Is your answer based on purity, looks or usability? As for just finding something to fit on 1 side: I'm reminded of the movie "Robots" where the just fix it mentality was being usurped by UPGRADES. So, I'm more into your any fender will do approach (simply because i have been a "lost everything & had to start over person") Lets say that you do end up going with a latter replacement. Will you show a left & right side pic for our benefit???

You can put a 73/74 fender on a 71 or 72. It will bolt on, and the body lines are not an issue.
Years ago..... my ex-bro in law hydroplaned his 71, completely destroying the drivers fender. I gave him a 73-74 fender and he put in on. Of course, the different side marker light made the change obvious but for him, it was better than driving around with no fender. Also, a 72 SE I bought on Ebay last year had a pass side 73/74 fender on it. There was a "gap" where the front fender inner structure bolts up to the rad core support . That gap was REAL obvious with the hood opened. IIRC there may have been 1 bolt hole up top/front on the 73-74 fender that had no corresponding hole. I believe I posted pics of that on the old 71-74 site before it died and have since deleted those pics.
So, you can definitely do it. Whether its a good idea would really depend on personal taste. I.E.-How nice a car is, whether you want it "right" , and if you are going to use wheel opening moldings or not.
For a driver type car, I would not care about putting 73-74 fenders on it. However, I`d probably only do it if I put a pair of 73-74 fenders on it...just to keep things symmetrical.

I did myself unbolt a 71 fender from a 73 when I parted out one 73. AKcharger on this board has a blue 72 rallye with one of his fenders from 73/74. will search the thread. Dunno remember if was here or on DC.com where he posted those pics, and diff is noticeable when you compair. Allmost Unnoticeable f you don't know about. I have the pics of his car saved, but preffer to post the thread about I don't remember the gap stated by Tom when I unbolted the 71 from the 73 I parted out, and seriouslly I have a doubt about. Maybe some aligment issue ? or some bended area on those matching faces surfaces ( rad support or fender )? dunno, but sounds some ilogical if you look down the hood and notice all 71/74 hoods have same location to hood bumper bolt fitment surface or reinfrocement, and same about hood pins. All years have same pins hood location and match with all hoods. No setting a doubt about Tom of course, but some stuff to think about and some problems could get that gap on that area before some fitment/interchange issue. As far I know chargerkid on DC.com told just ONE bolt was missing the location on inner fender, but easy to fix, with some enlarging hole I think. Dunno remmeber either about when I parted out that. And I'm agree with Tom, I would get a pair to match if you definitelly go with 73/74, untill get the right one to keep symmetrical. NOTE... GET ALSO THE FRONT SPLASH SHIELDS to a perfect match assembly Ot could be another diff I'm not aware of, like the LAARGE rubber bumper and bracket what fits on side of fender, at a side of headlights We need to wait if is true I can get those NOS fenders I talked once down here

I don't mind if the car is not conquers original. Its is not ever going to be a OEM show car. I may, however, put it in local shows as a resto mod. I have even thought about getting fiberglass fenders, but it is going to be street driven quite often and the glass just seems a little fragile to me. If , I certainly hope not , but "IF" another accident happens it would be a good idea to have sheetmetal there for personal protection. I sure wish Auto Metal Direct would get on the ball and start making "our" parts. Maybe someone should e-mail them and tell them to check out this site. Back to topic: I would use 73-74 if I could find them dirt cheap and you can guarantee me they will look "perfect" to an untrained eye. you know like all the little Chebby and Phord boys around here. P.S. you can see my problems in the thread titled "attention Tom"
