Just wondering if anybody has tried an 80% Gloss, Semigloss or Satin finish on the metal trim in their interior. What were the results? What is factory correct for a black interior?
I'm thinking about going with a semiflat for the defrost/speaker grill on the dash & 80% gloss on the face of the dash & window surrounds etc. Will this be too shiny?

Brock, I know there are others with more knowledge of finishes for the metal than I have, but I DO know that the black interior of our cars is Landau Black. In fact that is the color name of the SEM Color Coat (dye) that I am using on our vinyl and plastic. Hope this helps, if I run across any info or threads, etc. on the metal portion of finishes, I'll get back to you, Buddy. Meanwhile, maybe (and hopefully) one of those others "with more knowledge" will jump in here and help you out on the correct finish gloss for the metals. Jer.

I've heard you refer to it as Landau Black before Jer. Does your SEM bottle give a %gloss?
I'm starting to think my 80%gloss plan will be too shiny.
As always, thanks for your help Jer!

Brock, To change the sheen you apply a coat of SEM Color Coat clear, ...after your prep work and coats, and after the Color Coat "dye"...(SEM isn't actually a dye...it's a coating) Depending on your desire (we're talking the plastic and vinyl Color Coat applications), you spray on a coat of: Low Luster Flexible Clear, or Satin Gloss Flexible Clear, or High Gloss Flexible Clear. I haven't worked with the metal products yet, but here's their website: www.sem.ws/This is the company I order the SEM Color Coat through: www.levineautoparts.com/semvinandpla.html?gclid=CP3R6JOz7Y8CFQg1WAodREgpMgSEM doesn't sell direct...that I'm aware of, Brock. Some of the older hands on this board might be able to redirect you to a thread elsewhere that covers the metal painting of our car's interiors. I'll let you know if I find out first. Jer.
