Palmdog:
In your description of your car you mentioned: "Flaming river steering wheel and tilt column (mods were needed for this to fit)"...
I am extremely interested in any pics and/or descriptions of the "mods" that you needed to make for the tilt-column to work.
My black SE is non-tilt, and I want to change that...I'm trying to get an idea of whether the Flaming River tilt column price (and the mods needed to make it work) are worth the trouble, or if I should just continue to wait for a used one to come up somewhere.
[I have actually given some thought to "borrowing" the one from my blue SE, for the time being, but that would mean I would be rolling the dice that another factory 72 SE tilt column will show up in the future. (I don't mind non-factory mods to the black car, as it has no build sheets with it, and it is strictly for my enjoyment anyway--as opposed to "restoring to factory.")]
Thanks for any help, there, Palmdog.

Hey Jer, what does the stock tilt column look like anyway? Maybe just a driver's side view?

+ 1 I have a idunno 75 Charger tilt column that I'm hoping to convert Anything to giterdone! I would think the '75 - '79 late B (Cordoba/Charger SE/Magnum) tilt columns would be pretty close.

Hey Jer, what does the stock tilt column look like anyway? Maybe just a driver's side view? I"ll see if I have a pic of it, Brock. ...and I'm now looking at the column made by XV Motorsports... it's supposed to be a True Bolt-in, w/o any modfications necessary... www.xvmotorsports.com/products/category/index.cfm?cid=104&lvl=1IT'S REALLY PURDY, TOO! #SillyMe# They are the company with the COMPLETE Bolt-In setup for 4 power windows....about a thousand bucks...but it includes EVERYTHING to convert to PW's.

This recent listing just went through the roof, surprising both Tom and I: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=190218037975I did a snipe at $321.51 and figured that was WAY more than enough!! It will probably be a while before another setup like that comes along. BROCK, my 440 blue SE's column is exactly like that...even down to the torpedo-shaped tilt lever. Here's the best pic I have on my "converted" Hard Drive... I'll get you a better one one of these days...

Put me down as curious about that Flaming River column as well.
I noticed the XV is for '70 and earlier with a note that they are working on the 71-74 B-body.
Not to highjack, but has anyone used the Flaming River power steering box?
Thanks, Roy

Good catch, Roy...I missed the year applications part. I hate it when vendors say, "coming soon!"....like that alone will make you wait until they get their act together...and then it's still "coming soon" or "working on" after 2 more years have elapsed. Aah well, at least I'll get to test drive the one available for '66 Chargers... Wake me when XV's 3rd Gens are being produced, somebody! ;D ;D ;D
