Hey everyone, Currently I'm doing the body work on my 74. Next month I'm going to be ordering quarter panels for both sides but theres something i need first. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it is. It looks to start right where the quarter panel ends by the rocker panels, and then continues on behind the rockers. I have some pics here, (other side) I think they may be part of the floor pans. I'm going to need fixes on both sides, as you can see there are badly rusted. However after much searching i dont know what they are. I don't think its part of the frame but I'm a newbie so maybe. Hope you guys can help me out! Thanks

Thats no more than part of the unibody, and runs from firewall up to that point. Of course need to be patched, but home made since they are not being reproed. If somebody does have a nice pic of that area, untouched ( or not that badly rusted ) will be nice to make mines AGAIN when I re make the body job AGAIN, because that part is related with drain chanells and need to be GOOD MADE to save from rust again. As far I know the drain channels could it be no more than simply a depressed area up to lowest part. when you weld the quarters on that area, sheet metal doesn't match and you get a drain section. I'm not sure about thought!!! My body man simply patched that area with plain sheet metal, then welded the quarter patch over, and now NO DRAIN CHANELS THERE... so will rust again

I will look for some pics of that area that we can use for reference on how to fix it properly so it won't rust again.

Had to make these parts for my 71 Super Bee. This area is thicker than the other sheet metal, so sand blast everything real good, measure thickness and get appropriate metal. I just clamped it in a vice and beat it into shape with hammers. drill a 1/4 inch hole in lowest point for drainage. We sprayed the back sides with "Weld Thru Primer" before welding. I recently got the Goodmark DVD set on auto restoration, have found numerous tips, I highly recommend it.
