Well, I'm studying the new reprint of the 72 Service manual I just got. Thanks for the tip Jer! Since I'm doing a dash resto, My focus is on wiring diagrams. Updates soon. Swapping door panels & seats for different versions offered along the way & for different colors is (as far as I can tell) very normal with our cars. Adding a console & upgrading to a Rallye dash is also common. I hope for alot of replies on these swaps. Post pics if ya got em What else have you done? I'd love to hear Nacho's accomplishments in the wiring modification area as well as all others with stories to tell! Swap in console brackets? Add a clutch pedal & hump? Install a rollbar or rollcage? How about racing seats & 5+ point harnesses? Swapping seat covers is also a great thread. My point is this: Share..........

I have been just adding original stuff what My car didn't have due assemblied Outside USA, like:
AM/FM radio with cassette pigtail. Stereo. Rallye cluster, so then the harness, the right 74 harness Interlock stuff WITH ALL INDICATORS. Get completed the lighning package ( fender top, map light, lights on buzzer ) Powered trunk latch Brougham panels, beside change the color Complete 74 seatbelt setup ( still need to mount rear bench setup ) rear deffog. rear speaker
soon to be added, cruise control
wiring mods I have made are simply the parallel charging wires and the relocation and adding of all relays, EVERYONE INSIDE THE CAB, 6 in total ( low, high beams, low, mid, high and heater blower speeds ). no one visible on engine bay neither any where, and all hooked on ammeter stud. No cut wires ( beside the repaired ones ), simply removing prongs from stock plugs and mounting on relay plug. Then running a new wire section, of same color to the original plug.
then also add a box, attached down the radio to use the pigtail to conect and extarnal audio device, and using also the power source to don't use the cigar lighter. Used an cigar lighter housing to get a power source.
If needed or wished I can share with more detailed info about any specific point

No cut wires ( beside the repaired ones ), simply removing prongs from stock plugs and mounting on relay plug. Then running a new wire section, of same color to the original plug. Are you using a stock ammeter or have you converted to a voltmeter? I'm contemplating an auxiliary current transformer but have no idea of as to how to recalibrate the guage to say 20:1. Are you using modern relays? Any recommendations? I'll be converting the instrument voltage regulator to a semiconductor for sure!! Keep em comin!!!

I have a full rollcage with 5 point harnesses. I will have to have special long shoulder harnesses made as they are made to pass through racing seats and mine have to go around the sides of the stock seats [wanted to keep the original C5XV interior]. Haven't figured out how to post pictures here yet, buy my car is on johnnybee's 71 site. Also Competition Engineering cage kit was narrowed 6" so I could retain all door panels and window cranks. the front hoop and bars were custom bent so I wouldn't have to cut the dash. If anyone is interested I will gladly email pictures.

Hey Superduper, The easiest way I've seen to do forum pics is with photobucket.com It's free. Just upload your pic, click on the bottom addy, paste the copied link into your message box & type out what you want to about it.
The work you have done with your roll cage deserves its own thread with naration or at least pics right here!

Then running a new wire section, of same color to the original plug. www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,33574.0.html ;D ;D ;D high and low beams relays are hidden on back of driver side kick panel low and mid speeds blower relays are hidden on top of glove box. heater and fast speeds blower relays are attached on one of the steerting column bracket holes, with a fasteners. I did it on that way because was the best way to distribute the load allong the line what feeds the main power to relays, coming from alt stud and also remove original terminals from original plugs without cut, and then Run the new wire to replace the one I was removing from plug. I thought at first use a relay bank, but was to need a complete harness running from every point to the relay bank. Maybe will make later once I get the best design posible. On link there is a diagram about what I made with relays but I can take pics and post more info soon. Are you using a stock ammeter or have you converted to a voltmeter? I'm contemplating an auxiliary current transformer but have no idea of as to how to recalibrate the guage to say 20:1. yes, everything stock. Just ammeter. Dunno what you mean about "auxiliary current transformer" Are you using modern relays? Any recommendations? Bosch. 5 pins. 4 pins is enough but since 5 pins works the same and proce is teh same, I'm simply not using teh prong what keeps ON on relay rest position I'll be converting the instrument voltage regulator to a semiconductor for sure!! mmm, you mean the limiter upgrade ?

Garage is a huge mess right now, been sandblasting and filing duraglass all week. Still recovering from my little accident last year so I can't move too quickly yet.

Hope you heel up soon Superduper Let me know if you have more questions about pic posting Nacho: yep, the limiter upgrade! I plan to do a version of it that will work for the purists. Now where did I put that magazene article? Thanks for sharing your relay overview!! As for the aux ct reference...History: There are alot of owners out there that simply refuse to let all the power used in their cars to pass through an ammeter. They are simply converting the ammeter to a voltage gauge complete with new silkscreened lettering. This fad is true of 70 & older MoPar owners. They call it fire prevention. An aux ct is a thought toward keeping the amp meter stock looking without actually passing all current up to the instrument cluster. Its kinda like why you use all the relays you do except it is for just the 1 gauge. Think of an auxilary current transformer as a way to measure current without having the main voltage present.

This thread is worthless without PICS
