I'll be more than glad to do that for you on one of my '72 cars, Steve, but I think there was a design change in the springs...I just can't remember if it was from 71 to 72 or 72 to 73 that the change came about.
Let's wait to hear from Nacho Guru, because I KNOW he knows when the change occurred (if I remember right, it went from coiled spring (like my 72's) to the pretzel shaped spring steel bar, or the other way around).

I'll get you some pics this weekend, Steve. Jer.

So, there weren't any of the torsion bar-type door hinge springs built on Chargers before '73, Nacho?

welll as you know everything I know is from the average of what I have seen on this 8/9 years on mopar boards, no registry of anything. Probably lates 72s began to be built with S spring ... could it be related about stock on assembly plant anyway all kinds are interchangeable since bolting points are the same

This is what I could find of my '71. If I get to the shop this weekend i'll take better pictures of the hinges. The spring is missing in the lower photo.

The change to the S-spring style lower hinges was done during the 73 production year. Depending on build date, a 73 can have either style.
The majority of the 10 or so 73`s that I have parted out or stripped for parts in junkyards had the earlier coil type spring type lower hinges.
