I can agree with keeping order and wanting every one to post to the right category but also I see the poster side too. being a poster! ;D Sometimes these forums are set up to be too wide with too many subjects, and the audience too few. sometimes a little chaos is good. and in fact kinda encourages others to post. I know this sight is just burnin up the Bandwith and all and it gets a million hits a day but this isn't DC.com Now I am not saying not to save a good thread but all to often just because the thread has subject matter that best fits another category it gets moved. It doesn't mean it needs to be moved or has to be moved. But if its a killer thread with lots of specific info yep go a head and do it, especially if the group requests it. But at the same time a new poster might get a little hesitant about posting, (I will look dumb if I don't post in the right area whats the right area? he doesn't know and doesn't post) the lurker's Web forums take on a life of there own as they get older and things tend too settle themselves out, all I am saying is its better to use too little moderating than too much. My comments are no way intended to insult or hurt ANY ONE And by the way ALL of you guy's are doing a great job! Thanks for a great place to hang out! ;D

Easier said then done when your never satisfied about certain stuff. As much time as I got into this forum, I'm not happy with it as it is. I never will be. I'm always fiddling with it, trying to improve it. Then I do something with it, and I'm not happy about the way I did it. I'm that way about my posts and my cars too. I post stuff, and correct my posts like 3 to 5 times average before I give up on it. At least once a week, I feel like giving up on this place, and permantly quiting (reason Tom was made Co-admin., in case I actually deciede to do it, seriously). But I don't because I have made some good friends here. ANYWAY, As far as moving threads, I myself try not to move a thread until it starts to die off. But then again, there are certain things better off in the right catagories so that person can get the best possable answer. I know for a fact that we have members that do not even look at the general topic areas most of the time. They do all their posting in the tech sections. On the other hand, I myself, even though I created this forum, I almost never go into the tech sections.
BTW - I now corrected this post 4 times as it is now. No kidding. #doh#

You "ain't" going anywhere, Pete!! ..as Tom says, "just build a bridge and get over it!!" (I just LOVE that saying, don't you??!!) Suck it up and take the bad with the good, Pete....it comes with the territory of having all that power and authority!!! ;D ;D Doright: As far as the "Heavy Handed": I strongly resemble that remark!! [I guess you really would have had your taters fried, Dennis, if I would have moved your Air Grabber Hood thread to Body, Paint and Chassis, like my first inclination was to do, huh?] Whelp.....gotta go get an ice pack, ya'll!!....I just moved a post to it's proper section, and boy is my arm tired from workin' that Heavy Hand!! #stirthepot# #stirthepot# P.S. I've got a couple of posts under my belt myself, and I've probably had 15 or 20 moved over the lifetime of my membership here....comes with the territory of posting, and I just don't take it personally...sometimes I really don't know exactly where to put a post, but if I don't get it in the right spot first try, oh well. But that IS why the Moderators always leave that "Moved to...." blurb in the original section....it's an option for Moderators that they don't have to check off (they could just move it, and leave no trace in the original section), but Pete's thinking (and rightfully so) is that it makes it easier for everybody to follow the trail of where the post went to!! And Thank God this ISN'T DodgeCharger.com!! We work very hard to keep it like that!! ;D #WaveHi# #WaveHi#

I no how you feel hard to make everyone happy!!! I am a administrator of a local forum and car club in MASS. neama.freeforums.org/index.phprunning a forum can be frustrating it takes quite a bit of effort to keep the members interested. what makes my forum different from most is that its also a active car club that has meets our core group is mostly guys in their 20's so at times I spend more time keeping the peace between members than trying to keep things going. what I find most frustrating at times is the lack of interest in posting if I'm not constantly creating subjects to discuss they come on and leave without posting. well the site was started in DEC of 07 so far we have 123 members and still growing. right now were using a free forum but soon I will be buying a domain so I can get all the adds of my site I can't believe the kind of adds they will put on your site if you use a free forum. I have days pete were I wish I never got involved with having a forum I spend hours on my computer looking at a blank screen. the thing that keeps me going is I believe that my forum has a place ,I am trying to create a forum that also is active a car club to go to shows together, cruises and the races. SO WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS I HEAR YOU PETE!!!! ;D

what I find most frustrating at times is the lack of interest in posting if I'm not constantly creating subjects to discuss they come on and leave without posting. EXACTLY!!! That's what bothers me the most. I'm creating about half of all the posts here. I have just under 500 members in a little over a year, but about 30 regular posters? #Thinking# That, and then the members here who hang on the other forms like DC.com, will post a cool thread there, but won't bother posting it here too. All I can think is "what's with that, my site not good enough to post that here too?". That frustrates me more then anything. Or I hear stuff like "this site is getting to much like DC.com & Moparts". And then people never come back. And it's like WTF!? This forum will NEVER be anything close to what those forums are because I aim 95% of the site at third gen Chargers only. Not all Mopars and or all Chargers all the time. Not that other cars can't be talked about, that's fine. I have tossed the idea of a car club around too for third gen Chargers, but with not much interest in the forum, I can't see much in a club either. Same goes for T-shirts #BlackEye# This is a free forum too. But It cost $7.00 a month for 50,000 page views to keep this site ad free. Which I with help do. I Use Go Daddy for the domain. But I couldn't and still can't afford to have them host a decent type forum. I would like someday to use a "Simple Machines" forum (like DC.com uses) because it is easier to work with for the members. But I asked again when I renewed the domain name last moth, how hard it would be to transfer everything to a new forum setup. Unless this forums hosters give me permission to use their backup settings, everything we have now for this current forum will be lost forever. We would have to start completely over again. So for now, We have to deal with what we have. For what it's worth, I think my Mods do a A-1 job here. I never have questioned anything they have done. I picked these guys because I trust them to be able to run this site without me if something ever happened to me. I give them a lot of respect, and I hope the members of this forum do too. #Twocents#

OK fellas, I thought I would chime in here. As a newer, less established member, I may be able to give a different viewpoint. For starters, I am by no means a web rat. Outside of a few local hunt/fish forums, this is the only forum I frequent. Since 1979 I have at all times owned at least one 3rd. gen. Charger. I have a strong preferance for these cars and this site fits me to a tee. Before I joined the group, I was a "lurker" for six plus months, mostly reading tech threads to suplement what I already knew, and in many cases what I thought I knew and didn't. In the fairly short time period since I joined, I have had a few posts moved and even been called a "highjacker"(I didn't even know what that meant, as I am new to this sort of thing). I have never taken any offense to being moved. In fact I saw it as a good idea to place subjects in thier proper heading. It helps to have things in thier place for future archive searches. I have never seen it as heavy handed, just logical.
That being said, I do not believe a forum such as this can be the same thing to all members. In my observations, there are several distinct groups in this site. There is a very social group that interacts like buddies with a common interest, there are the guys deep in a restoration, there the guys looking for information and those that are here just to sell their wares. Some members fit into more than one group. I think you guys do a great job of serving us all.
As far as "this site getting like DC.com and Moparts" that is far from reality and I hope it stays that way. I am not fond of either site. Both are populated by braggerts, liars, and nimrods making statements such as, "Dude, you should like see my 11 sec. 318 Newport. It so kicks a**.". Yah right. That is not for me. It is so much better here. Keep your head up, Pete. You and the crew do a great job. I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks again.

Well, there are braggers here. And I don't mind that unless they over do it. Hell, I brag once in a while. That's what owning a cool car is all about, isn't it?

OK Well I knew I would catch flak for the thread and ruffle a few feathers BUT..... I personaly could care less about my posts being rederected But I thought maybe others might. like a new guy. (In all its just a consern) I have seen so many other Forums with most all posts taking place in the general section, with most other tech stuff in the diffrent sections takeing off after the member becomes established with the group. Like I said I think this is a great site and its not DC and thats why I am here and not there.

Is being called a "site show off" the same as being a bragger?! Nah! I'm not offended. I'm here to learn & to help (if I can). I've made & posted mistakes & misinformation (not on purpose) & have allways been glad to learn from those mistakes!
Keep it up Pete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
