I have a new gremlin that showed up just today .The car started and run FINE Sunday, NOW won't turn over. The battery is charged the alternator is working also put a new voltage regulator on LAST Sunday because my wife and I were stranded Saturday night the very FIRST trip in the new car (my wife loves cars and the car hobby AND took it very well). Got it all taken care of thanks to Brock, Jer and Nacho. I can take a car apart and put it back together again but I am weak in the electrical department. If some one could point me in the right direction on how to fix this. I Would very grateful. Thank in advance for any help. P.S. my wife is reading a year one catalog while I write this am I lucky or what???

My Bride is the same way, and we should thank our lucky stars, because it's my understanding that they are not ALL like that!! I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem or not, but almost every time I've had to replace a voltage regulator, the starter relay went bad within the next month or two...or vice versa. Might just be a coincidence, but it's a fact--at least for me--and I thought I would pass it on to you! Good luck with it....there's a thread in here about starting problems somewhere, I'll see if I can find it....It has a lot of good ideas (mostly from Nacho, of course) and might serve to point you in the right directions. Jer.

Thanks Jer that was very helpful, I read all of it. It Jogged my mind about a problem I had on my Plymouth bout 9yrs. ago, turned out to be the starter relay. They're cheap I'll get one tomorrow, and a ballast resistor. The car had been down for awhile and the care and up keep had slipped VERY BADLY. I bought it from my ex-wife and her husband, it was his car but it had not been driven more than 6mo. total in the last 4 to 5 years. now she belongs to me! I will cure the just sitting around and going to waste....like it was. Oh man there have been so many little things on this car and a couple of big ones but nothing that one would be surprised at considering it is 30+ yrs. old. Yes I am supported by my wife in my car hobby and I am blessed in this. There are some who are not as lucky as we are Jer. Before her back surgery she would go salvaging with me! Will update tomorrow on starter relay. Good night and GOD Bless. Thanks Jer ;D

interlocked cars aren't able to crank the engine if you don't have fastened the seatbelt once you are sat. Same about passenger if bucket sense somebody sat. Those were USA regulations on 74. Canadians or export cars are not interlocked
If you got some problem on crank engine the Mopar installed a reset button to be able to crank the engine in case of fail. This resets the START circuit to be able to crank.
you didn't tell me if car is cranking or is cranking but simply is not starting
Ground from tranny NSS is could it be another problem. Of course everything if starter relay is good.
on tech archives there is a thread talking about interlock systems, with a video included at the end. Check the video first to understand what is the interlock.
P.S.: on days of the thread posted, I didn't know a lot about insterlock yet. Now I do

#A_Toast# It's ALIVE..... Replaced the starter relay and it started right up! Jer you were right, two weeks ago I replaced the voltage regulator after the first ride then just this past Monday the relay died. Must be a MOPAR thing. It works for you Jer and It has worked this way for me too. I am going to consider it a lesson learned. I also replaced the ballast resistor to cover all bases was only $5.47. Now I at least have a start point of known good working ignition components. My bad Nacho for not saying what it was doing. No it was not cranking at all.The starter relay was not making a clicking sound either. I pushed the button and nothing happened. I followed Jer's lead to replace the relay. He reminded me of a problem I had on my Plymouth when it wouldn't start. The relay went bad while I was on a date #doh# It wouldn't crank either I fixed the car and she was impressed. I plan on driving it Saturday and cruzin ALL DAY. Finally I will get to take it on the road, I HOPE!!!! Owned it for almost 3Mo. and less than 50 miles. Thanks Guys #DriveBurnout#

Well, I for one am glad "it's alive"...
And I was due for one of my suggestions to pan out for someone...
Even I was starting to doubt my own credibility: What's the point in Old Geezer's telling war stories if something advantageous isn't learned from them?
Then it becomes "talking just to hear my lips flap"...as my Grandmother used to accuse me of doing....quite frequently...
But then, that's another war story for another thread!
Happy Motoring!! #WaveHi# #2Thumbs#
Jer.
