I have a dilemma. First of all my inner fender is beyond repairable (Car was in an accident before I got it, poor fix job). I bought a left fender (because poor fix job from previous accident) with the promise it was for a 73 - 74. Turns out its for a 72. So, #1 - Inner fender should be replaced. #2 - I don't want the hassle of replacing the fender I bought. #3 - I would like to get a new re-pop inner fender and use the fender I bought.
So, could I just order an inner fender for a 72 and put it on, or should I order one for a 73 and adjust it to fit the 72 fender?

I'd most likely keep the car as 73 as possible & just modify the fender as needed. This gets back to the fender differences referenced in older threads. (Dang pop quizes) With the exeption of the unique 71 sidemarkers the only differences between the 71/72 & 73/74 front fenders are in the valence mounting area & wheelwell lip height. (I hope I pass I hope I pass)

I thought the only difference between the 71-72 and 72-73 (other then the 71 side markers) was the location of the of the bolt holes to the inner fender. But a 72 inner fender would fasten up properly but just look a little different correct? Looking at parts today, it appeared as if 70 to 74 e-bodies share the same inner fender as the 71-72 Chargers.

This is a 72. All dimemtions are not from the last bolt; they are from the back of the fender flange. Well, exept for the wheelwell measure. Now, if a similar picture of a 73-74 car with a tapemeasure in just about the same place can be presented.........we could all see just what we got

Me thinks we had the same idea right about the same time! The only bolthole I see as different is in the 18" - 19" area. Is this right? So the wheelhousing is a little lower - no-one can see both sides at the same time. If that just isn't gonna work for you then you could always take them to a body shop & explain what you want?!
