Anyone have a good method to move the bumpers in toward the sheetmetal and get rid of the old plastic filler.
Front looks like new holes could fix it but part of the bracket that Ys off toward the inside may stop it from moving enough.
Back has 2 large brackets that don't look like they can be modified.
Any solutions?

use 71-72 brackets? I have done it with dusters.

On the front...most of the 73-74 guys that do that, just elongate the holes so the bumper can be slid back a little. On the back, as Terry mentioned, use the 71-72 rear bumper brackets.

Thanks, know of a source for the back ones or will I be calling all the junkyards?
Anybody on the site with a parts car that doesn't need them?
PS: nice to have a 3rd generation site.

Thanks, know of a source for the back ones or will I be calling all the junkyards? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D BTW, welcome! about fronts, yes, elongate the holes since 71/72 front brackets are or MUST BE some diff due the diff frame rails. Dunno if they have been already compaired side by side. I saw you asked about the rear bumper itself too on dc.com. 73/74 does have holes on top to bolt the corner fillers. Of course they will be SLIGHTLY visible. If you are worried about, could simply fill them with a chromed carriage bolt . 73/74 are also heavier. AAAND, 73/74 have the plates inside where bolts the fillers, but that is not a deal to worry.

I might be mistaken, but when you start talking about a swap for the rear, I seem to remember one thread talking about having to change the gas filler neck because of the decreased amount of room..
Is that right?

yes that could it be, however I think you could keep the filler tube and relocate the bracket, fitting deeper the neck what is not a big deal.

Isn't that always the way it happens. Modify one thing and you've got other problems.
I had to get a new gas tank (didn't have the bump on top) due to rust issues. Got a new sender to run larger 3/8 line and then decided to install EFI so now I've ordered a sump with a 1/2 outlet. I've seen an EFI return line that installs by cutting the filler neck so I could get that and just cut a little extra out of the neck if making it shorter would clear any obstruction? Sometime in the future I'll use the 3/8 as the nitrous line (dreaming!).
