I have a pair of 6x9's in mine? Mounted in the stock location using the factory mounting holes.

I have a pair of 6x9 in mine? Both sides? Yes thats why I used the word "pair" All kidding aside yes they are both 6"x9" in the rear deck. Another thing to consider is it possible that cars with the rear defroster option in the glass (like mine)were set up for 2 matching 6"x9" speakers and the cars with the rear defroster blower option were set up for two different sizes to make room for the blower and return air? I really can't think of a reason to use two different size speakers in the rear deck except to make room for something? The 73 SE that I had with no rear defroster had two 6"x9" speakers in the rear deck also with no cutting or adapting to mount them. The one trick I learned real quick, after you go through all the hassle to remover the seat back and then the package tray to get to the screws that hold the speakers is to glue or tack weld the screw head so you never have to remove the seat and package tray to R&R the rear speakers again.

Old thread, but my 73 has two different size openings just like odzking says. I have a pair of rockfofd fasgate punch 5x7's bought. I'm assuming I can still use the 5x7 in the larger opening with some type of adapter plate. My 73 didn't come with the premium sound package so I discovered this after removing the rear deck tray to put in a deluxe one that has the speaker slots.

5x7 driver side, and 6x9 on passenger side.
I got a NOS driver side one because regulars ( aftermarket ) 5x7 doesn't meet the mounting holes with tray provisions
Note. Is the same unit than front Mopar trucks use. i got it cheap because was listed for truck but after check the PN is the same to our B bodies rear. Amazing how BradsNosBarts ( The seller ) didn't noticed that when listing.
There is not a diff tray with or without rear deffroster, all are the same.
