Hey all, I am beginning the trim removal from my 71 charger and I have run into a snag with the window trim on the doors (see pic) I can see how the trim comes off and i have most of the screws out that are holding it BUT... there are 3 screws i cannot get to because the window glass is in the way even when the window is rolled down all the way.. Is it really possible that they designed this car to make this piece of trim impossible to take off or put back on while the window glass is on the car??

I remember taking mine off and getting to those 3 with the window all the way down or up I can't really remember but I know I did not remove the glass.

maybe im missing something or maybe the window is not sitting quite right when its down all the way. i'll take a second look and see if both windows sit the same while rolled down.
i will need to remove the glass at some point anyway but i was hoping to avoid having glass laying around until i absolutly had to.

you can get completelly down the window removing the lower rubber bumper located on bottom of the door. take care of the way you remove it
then will get acces to the trim screws removing the glass weatherstrip.
Trim does have also a regular phillips screw at the very front end

I remember running into that same snag. Nacho & company helped me out! Funny how the glass will roll down far enough once the stop is removed

Thank you so much for starting this post "eckertc1". And thanks for the info Nacho. I just ran into the same problem. But, what about if the car has power windows and the car isn't running (no motor or steering column)? What is the safest way to get power to the window for it to go down?

Glad this post helped someone other then me ;D now i don't have to feel like such a goof for missing something so obvious once it was pointed out by Natcho ;D as far as how to safely get power to the power windows in your car when it doesn't even have a steering column, i would have to pass on giving advice on this one for fear of giving bad advice. if it were my own car ( and please don't try this without seeking advice from the others such as natcho with more experience) i would either try to get the window motor off and allow the window to go up or down by hand ..... OR... (and this is a big maybe) if i was feeling adventurous i would try to trace back my wires for the power window motor, splice into them, and use a car battery to supply power to them temporarily and roll the window down. (i wouldn't actually use a battery myself because i have a portable adjustable voltage power supply in my garage but you get the point).

simply feed the motor from batt. Change the polarity if is going up instead down.
Of course unplugg as soon you get the window at desired point. Keep motor hooked will blow it. Powered window systems does have a breaker circuit to cut the power if glass gets to top and power is still feedieng accidentally ( for example if burtton gets locked in someway ). making it on this way you are bypassing the breaker

Do you know what the color of the wire is? Should I use a feed from the battery with a 20 amp fuse in line or just go straight from the battery?
